Tonight we’re going to have Mongolian Beef stir fry with vegetables served over fried rice. Moscow and Kentucky mules are the beverages of choice for the evening. Life is good in Gator Nation!
Linguine with pesto, pine nuts & bruschetta for tonight. Wife had a salad (of course), with the last grilled chicken breast that was marinated in roasted garlic & Parmesan. Ice Tea tonight, no alcohol
Very pleasant outside, for now. Big snow storm rolling in later this evening. So decided grill… and early. Having grilled shrimp, andouille & kielbasa, and vegetables with a chimichurri sauce. The veggies of choice …onion, red pepper, zucchini and squash. Roasted potatoes as well …and I’m certain my wife will require a salad. No messes in the kitchen tonight. Go Gators! Beat the snot out of Miamah
Penne with sundried tomatoes, roasted red peppers, cream, red pepper flakes, basil, garlic and shrimp. Salad on the side.
Tonight I’ll be grilling leg quarters again and we will clean out the fridge of the week’s leftover vegetables. We will also have some Parmesan Garlic Yukon gold potatoes. The longnecks are ice cold and Ms. Jan’s wine is chilled. Life is good in Gator Nation!
Sunday Chili tonight. Just took it off the heat. Choice of Fritos, jalapeños, onions and saltines as toppings. Jalapeño cheese corn muffins on the side.
Orecchiette pasta with hot Italian sausage and arugula. OF course with other things like lemon zest, garlic, vermouth, butter, parmigiano reggiano and chicken broth.
An update. We found the owner through a neighbor that knew how to post about locally lost pets on Facebook and she and her dog Sophie were reunited yesterday morning.
The house is smelling of the large pot of spaghetti sauce that’s been simmering since about 1:00pm— A fresh Caesar salad and parmesan and garlic Texas toast will be our sides. The longnecks are iced down and Ms. Jan’s wine is chilled. There will be a nice Cav on the table at supper. Life is good in Gator Nation!
The only thing I cooked today was a mess of suet blocks to feed the birds. The catbirds are loading up right now. I think that all the orioles have already left. My son is picking up Dick Mondell burgers for a quick bite before the game.
Chicken & rice casserole for tonight. Drumsticks & thighs, seared in a pan, then in the oven with the rice mixture, covered, for about an hour. Lima beans as a side. And the Mrs. will have her usual …a salad.
I wanted to make chicken marsala tonight but my wife wanted something lighter so I am cooking chicken breasts in tomatoes and shallots to be served over egg noodles.
I am having my house repainted right now. It is an old wood frame house about 100 years old and some and not much of the novelty siding needs replacing. Back then it was 5" novelty siding and now the regular size is 6" novelty siding. Good thing that I made some extra when I did some repair a few years ago. You can make the 5" siding with first a dado cut and then a rip on the 6" siding. I made about 25 feet of extra siding back then and it should be enough. The carpenter was really happy to get it as it is a pain to make needing lots of runout tables with the long lenghts. When I made it I had to make two runout tables now used for other purposes and needed my son to help. The guys painting the house thought I must have been a master carpenter before I retired because I was telling them about the cut nails that they were finding. LOL.
