Gotta respect the way Saban does this. I sure hope we offered the same to the "Mayor of Gainesville". Nick doesn't seem to care one bit if he's had a prior coaching relationship with the guys he brings on board. He just wants quality men/good coaches. And the results speak for themselves on the field and in recruiting.
Results don't lie, the guy knows what he's doing. But then again, most coaches don't have the same cache as Saban to be able to pull former Power 5 and NFL head coaches to be part of his analyst staff. It's good to be king.
. I am not a big UM fan, however, I believe that comment "water boy" comment was called for. When UM came to the Gators, Strong was the only coach at UF that UM retained. Also, Strong was always at or near the top of the UM's coaching staff (DC, CO-DC, Associate Head Coach) and he was one of UM's lead/top recruiters. Furthermore, Strong was not forced out by UM. Strong was offered the Head Coaching job at Louisville in Dec of 2009. In other words he accepted a promotion that was not available at UF at that time.
And we had some defensive studs back then. Was he responsible for recruiting those guys? If so, then sign him up.
I just reread the original quote. I know believe/think that the author was referring to Miami. The key words that showed me this was "when he left them". I should of caught this. I apologize for the comment "out of line".
