The Gators open on Thursday against Mississippi State (20-11, 8-10). With Colin, I would have given us the edge. Without, I give the edge to MSU, but it's still a winnable game for us, if Riley and Will stay hot and everyone else plays within their strengths. The winner will unfortunately have to face the Criminal Tide. Still, beat MSU and go to 17-15. Lose to Bama, 17-16. Go to the NIT and see what happens. With luck, we'll get a home game to start in the NIT.
The opening round is Wednesday. Ours is a Thursday game. I agree about our chances with & without Colin. At least our guys are in position to make the NIT.
True - Looking at the SEC, it looks like MS st & Ark need wins the most. Bama, A&M, KY, Mizz, TN - in Auburn - probably in Vandy - playing really well down the stretch, might need one SECt win MSst, Ark - both sit at 8-10 in conference and might be on the outside lookin in
Yep. Lunardi projects them as among the last four in. They'll be playing extremely hard against us. A loss might knock them out.
With Colin we would have been no worse than a 6 seed and with any luck, had the double bye since we beat both Missouri and Tennessee. Sucks that we are locked into the early time slot, but the tournament designs it that way to give the #1 seed the maximum amount of rest.
A team with a worse SEC record than us even with CC out and we beat them on their floor. So much for a hard OOC schedule.
it’s who ya beat… They beat… Marquette, Tcu, mizzou, arky, Tamu Florida beat… mizzou, Mississippi state and ut.
Cowbells also lost at Georgia. Don't think they deserve to get in with a losing sec record, but we will see.
My opinion has always been that no team that’s below .500 in its own conference deserves a bid. They’re 9th in the conference (behind some teams who clearly won’t receive a bid), but somehow they’re one of the best 68 in the country?
It's the total package; MSU fared better than us in tougher games: Q1 + Q2 ----------- MSU: 7-10 (4-7/3-3) UF: 3-14 (2-12/1-2) Q3 + Q4 ----------- MSU: 13-1 (5-1/8-0) UF: 13-1 (9-1/4-0) To me it's easy to see why MSU is in a better position than us. Yes, we had a harder non-conference schedule, but we didn't do anything to capitalize on that. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
Still flummoxed that a sub-500 record can even be considered in championship tournament. Champions don't have losing records in my simplistic view of the world, regardless of who they beat.
