Once again our Gators find themselves in the position of needing to flush the Saturday game and move on. The difference of flushing this game has to be with the sole purpose of the mindset of “No More”….. Pride—Tradition—History of who you are, where you play, and who you play for have to be our players driving force and focus to push the team to its desired goals and objectives.
Haven't been able to watch any of these games, tomorrow no different. Hate the canes tho so here's hoping Cags is on, Neely is healthy and can finish up a series win.
If Halter starts at 3B again I hope Robertson bats 8th, not 7th like on Saturday. In the 8th spot if Robertson gets on, Halter can give himself up with a good chance to sac bunt. Robertson might even steal if Halter squares and pulls the bat back. If so then Halter can bunt him to 3B on the next pitch. Note: I have posted that Halter should sit in the other thread but I think Sully wants Halter on third in this pivotal game.
No intention to take over GatorGals thread here but I'd like to ask everyone who posts for Game 3 to pick who you think is going to win before this game gets started. We've all tasted bitter defeat and I'd like to get a measuring point to see where everyone's head is at with the team and your expectation on the day. I don't mean to make it some positive pumper thread or a complete opposite chance for everyone to line up with their complaints. Just keep it simple and with a win or lose, add a score if you want, and perhaps one quick expectation. I'll go first.... Gators win 7-4 as long as Purnell, Jameson, or Abner do not pitch. @Gatorgal04 please feel free to delete if you prefer to keep this out of your thread. Go Gators!
Gators win 7-5. And @Matherly87 lets hope it is Cags- Cade- Neely. Let’s also hope midweek is focused on the 4 that haven’t pitched much and getting them innings. They can help us. They just need innings. To spend several innings in midweek on Purnell, Jameson, Abner makes no sense. I’d start Ursitti and Nesbitt. Nobody has thrown less than those 2 I think. And why no Tejeda or Arroyo this weekend?
I'm terrible at predicting Gator outcomes in any sport, but I think we win 8-5. We need this game badly because FAU comes to town Tuesday & Wednesday and even though they lost Friday & Saturday to UConn, they beat Miami last week and are always a tough team to play midweek.
My heart says Gators win- and it would be huge to win this series-- my mind says, I don't know. A loss like yesterday's where you're up 6-1 and then lose badly- can have a residual effect on a team. That's why as 74 says-- flush it and come out strong today. But thinking back-- yesterday's loss was eerily reminiscent of game two, two years ago vs Miami (opening series at the new Park) where after winning on Friday the Gators blew a five-run lead in the Saturday game, and wound up losing and then faltered badly out of the gate on Sunday. It's all in the past and irrelevant to this young team but some fans remember.
We will cough up one more before SEC play, and open up the Bama series with a 15-4 record. …but not this one. Gators win 10-6
Not going to predict the score— We pitch—quality strikes on the day and hit—we win. We throw poorly—walk the house and give up two strike hits—we lose. It’s that simple.
I will be following here-hopefully yesterday they learned something from the mistakes that were made and to correct them, and maybe learned some heart and fire (read that some players were too upset to do post game ?).....hoping we find those mid game relievers -I think in each loss we started out well-and then innings 6 thru 9-melted down...someone correct if I am mistaken-I have faith that the team will be the team we are all hoping they will be...Go Gators-get after those canes today!
What is everyone’s thoughts on who Sully has as receivers that he can rely on!! Any thoughts or discussion??
I mean both the usf and Jacksonville games were at home-and we were ahead-and then awful pitching later innings-same with the u game yesterday-we were ahead 6-3-then lose 14-6 in the later innings? Unbelievable...
Back in @wingtee and my day we didn’t have post game interviews—I’m going to say it would have been a little too unfiltered for today’s world….
I kind of like the 10-4 score from Friday, so I’ll go with that. Not that I think Miami will score or that we will be held to only 10 runs, just a fun score. No chance we lose today, and you can take that to the bank. Which doesn’t mean a whole lot because the banks are closed today. We’ll drop one more game (to FAU I think), because the game is on a Wednesday. Last Wednesday game of the year until Omaha. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
