If the advice was - as has been speculated - "stay healthy and you'll be among the top 5-10 drafted" then whoever was giving him that advise was pretty sage. Perhaps too conservative if anything.

He sure is killing it at the combine. 4.43 run...not too shabby!! Huge broad jump and vertical. Didn't see any passing stuff.

    Go Gators.

Eh, I'll save any criticism over ARs attitude for his handlers. I'm just assuming his QB guru and camp were in his ear. Not going to blame what seems to be a nice kid in over his head.

It looks like a smart move unless youre one of his teammates trying to win a game then it looks selfish and leaderless. Could you see Tebow, Spurrier, Trask or Danny doing that to his teammates and coaches?

How was he preserving himself? He ran when he was supposed to run. He wasn’t sliding early. Tired of people bashing his character

We had a mediocre passing scheme with mediocre WRs and zero TEs and it was ARs first season starting. Everybody was giving 100% unless we had real evidence to the contrary

Can mods put an end to this character bashing?

What makes you think he wasn’t giving 110%? A far easier explanation is the mediocre passing scheme that was pointed out by many people and the lack of receiving talent

The only people speculating this are Gator haters on this board. No reasonable person thinks he wasn’t trying.

It takes two seconds to see he ran as much as any running QB CBN has ever had. Having a bad passing scheme, zillion drops, weak WRs, and inaccurate short passing is not the same as sandbagging

The guy is dominating at the combine. I have said before he is a supreme athlete. I just think he is a meh QB. He will definitely be drafted high, and I hope he pans out in the NFL, but I think it will be 3-4 years before we see it. Any team that can draft that high has a lot of needs besides a QB, and a porous line will not be good for AR.

You and I were probably the #1 and #2 AR stans this season. I'm not bashing his character. I think he was making a business decision. And I saw - we all did - many, many opportunities to run where he just took the sack or threw the ball away.

I don't blame him. And you're right, we had very few targets. I don't think he was going to walk away with great stats no matter what. But by season's end I was 100% sure he was keeping himself healthy for the draft as a #1 prio. It was the right decision, because he's killing it today.

We don't need to call Mods! for this.

Maybe he could have ran but the vast majority of QBs aren’t wired that way. AR is actually elite at keeping his eyes downfield. It’s a good trait for a QB to have.

Jones ran too often at any trouble. That’s actually the bad move as a QB.

Now I think AR being focused downfield wasn’t optimal for the 2022 Gators but that’s just who he is. That’s not sandbagging or preserving himself imo

I am going to backtrack a bit about all my complaining about AR holding back last year. Even though I do think that his agent, private coach, etc. were cautioning him. The new coaching staff who don't know what the heck they were doing didn't help.

But you have to admit, we had a really sorry team last season. If AR had the receivers that the 2019 or 2020 team had, he would have put up much better numbers

Im not a Mullen fan but his offense suited AR much better. He would have killed it with Mullen and weapons.

Former Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson spoke for 15 minutes at the NFL combine in Indianapolis on Friday morning, and he didn't mince words when asked about his completion percentage during his senior year at Florida.

I can definitely get better and delivering the ball and helping my guys up," Richardson said. "But I also can't catch every pass. If I could, I would, definitely. But it's also helping guys out and helping guys help me."
