How 'bout dem Gators!! Man that was a throroughly enjoyable evening... Falling behind early punctated by Morales' BS bat throw showboating (and for those who may not have noticed-- BT bumped him as he came across the plate as a warning). BT fire in the belly. And Sproat settling down and doggedely working through six innings despite some of the worst home plate umpiring I've see in a while... and then Fisher- outstanding, I circled the kid's name watching scrimmages and he just seems as cool as they come-- Byrne-like calm throwing quality strike- 9 outs in 30 pitches. And a true freshman. Weekend guy next year. Saving Neely was huge and then ... what can you say about the hitting. Just a great all around game. The two errors could have hurt but didn't and Sproat losing his mechanics at times in the heat of the moment-- but that can be cleaned up. Again, didn't hurt the good guys in the end but home plate blue was horrible. Jeff Head -- have seen him before and he's not good- don't these guys get graded?
Wait a second, are you telling me the Gators pitching held Miami to just 1 run over the last 8 innings? I thought everyone was saying these pitchers were just like last year and we were just an offensive team that the defense reminded some of Grantham's defense. I'm so confused that this team's season had already been determined to be another complete wasted season because of our pitching being no different than the last two seasons and it was Aleman all over again. And all this because we lost two Wednesday night games. Who'd a thunk.
I spent roughly ~$300 at the game. (I ate nachos only) I started about 200 games for Florida, but this was my first time as a spectator. It was rather nerve wracking until the 24 oz beers started to kick in. Great game. Amazing stadium. Proud to be a Gator. Be back tomorrow.
I had great seats but couldn't go. I am sure that scouts sat in my seats. My 31 year old son's girlfriend's parent were in town and we were entertaining them. I would occasionally get a score update, though. Now weather might make me miss at least some of tomorrow's game. I have season basketball tickets and want to attend at least for Senior Night and the game starts at 6:00. Chances of a long rain delay are pretty high. At least there is Sunday.
Dave Frey is such a good singer. I've seen them probably 10 times over the years. They are working on a new album out soon and they sang 4 new ones tonight. Look for a sure hit or two when it comes out.
One word- Fisher. Sproat’s outing with settling down was super impressive but this Freshman- no other words but wow.
I have seen the stadium either but we have a 70 s Baseball weekend in April vs Georgia. They are going to introduce/ honor that decade of Gator baseball. Hope to meet you and others there. Wonder if they will say a ‘“ a 75 Gator pitcher with an under .500 career record Mr Wingtee”?
Rivera pounded the ball all at bats but unlucky 3x right side and strong wind kept them in park and another to warning track in left. Much improved hitter this year. Doesn’t go for lot of bad pitches and strike out as much as last year. More disciplined. He was extremely vocal.
One the best kind of wins you could have. You have an early 3 run setback in the first inning. You keep your cool, confidence and demeanor. You slowly, steadily, cooly inch back more and more. Then end up winning 10--4. One of the best kind of wins you could have. We showed some real grit.
