It seems like the two openings for wide receiver, and TE coach when themselves IKE Hilliard and Cornelius Ingram almost perfectly. Hilliard was really respected and Auburn and promoted to co-off coordinator. He’s from Louisiana and has recruiting ties there, he’s won a championship at Florida… And Cornelius Ingram has been building a program at Hawthorne high school out of nothing taking their football and basketball team to state championship level… He knows how to mold, young men, build something out of nothing, and really connect to the youth. I know this really reeks of a “kerwin” post and I am not a guy who looks to the past or thinks we have to dive in and hire former gators at every turn… But these two really make a lot of sense and I hope Napier respects Florida history and where these guys are right now and what they can do to connect to young men.
It would be great to have them if they are the right fit, can coach, and if they can recruit at a high level. I don’t know the answer to any of those. They were great gators, that I do know.
Seems like Ike is a no brained that hits all the right marks. CI would be more of a gamble having not done it in college /SEC but man this dude connects to young men and has built nothing out of something. Seems worth the risk to me
I love those guys.. IKe stop and pop vs FSU is on my all time highlight reel But TE coach needs to be a no holds barred recruiter. WR needs to be a coach with credibility. I think Ike brings that. I just don’t know that CI has the connections, the recruiting chops to be that guy. Not yet.
If I cannot say anything good regarding this post I won’t, I can’t and damn sure do want to get banded!
CI has been HC at his HS alma mater for 8 yrs could be he just loves it. It's a 1A school so the jump to a P5 with zero recruiting experience is a huge leap. Ike spent a decade in the pros and one yr in college. Currently unemployed. Can't say why. Maybe looking to get back into the NFL.
I think this is an accurate summary. I think recruiting is about connections and organization- it seems to me the ceiling would be REALLY high to take risk on CI at TE. Younger black man who’s had success with highschool athletes in Florida, played at a championship level at Florida… I could be totally wrong but I think this is a high ceiling /low floor move
