A Committed Coach: Gators Defensive Coordinator Austin Armstrong Never Strayed From a Boyhood Dream - Florida Gators "I actually went to school on career day in third grade as Steve Spurrier," Armstrong said. "I got a lot of stuff thrown at me that day. I had the visor, headset, orange polo, everything. That's what I wanted to do. That's really why I wear a visor because of the respect I had for him."
Good read. Sounds like he’s got a lot to prove still based on his answers and reactions. I’m glad he’s a Gator.
I trust Bill Napier... I hope Armstrong succeeds in a big way in Gator town. Big career jump for the lad. Let's hope he can shine in the spotlight and coach up these kids. Go Gators.
Some reporter needs to ask him what he thinks about defending the hail mary from midfield with 10 minutes left in the 1st quarter and its 3rd and 7.
Fantastic article. Interesting that everyone who works w/ Armstrong wants to work with him again. I'm excited- but 2 important things... 1) This guy better carry ID everywhere he goes because no one will believe he's a college football coach. He looks like a 6th year senior. 2) (More important.) The guy is young and inexperienced. He will make mistakes. But wow the guy has potential. Gator Nation needs to be patient and understand there will be growing pains. What we see next year will not be the finished product.
10 yards off the ball from the far far end (like somewhere between the Big Fogg misters and cheerleaders) of the field...man they would never expect someone to blitz all the way from over there....go ahead and leave the wide receiver...its OK...Trey Dean can pick him...whats the worst thing that could happen?
Hard to argue, sometimes it seemed the pass was already in the air when the safety would start his approach!
