If congress thinks he's lying then investigate away and let the chips fall where they may. Again, just seems like a reach to me at the moment.

Acted maliciously. He is a smart guy. And the power afforded him led to a destructive downfall imo.

Millions of unnecessary deaths might be a problem regardless of motive.

I guess he just bided his time guiding the country through numerous deadly diseases until the perfect one came along so that he could inflict maximum damage on the country.

I just think it descends from a tragic false belief and possibly also messianic complex.

Seems like some posters here sure behave like they've never been responsible for making decisions in ambiguous situations. Perhaps he is making the best decision out of a bunch of bad options when 70% of studies say X, 20% say Y, and 10% say Z? The Y and Z people will of course criticize the decision to go with X. Or you can throw your hands up in the air and do nothing since there isn't consensus. This is the most highly regarded person in his field who has held his position across numerous administrations from both political parties. If you want to vilify people like this and drive them off you're really not going to like then next person in line.

What motivation would Fauci have to act maliciously? He wanted to be an infamous Dr. and go down in the history books next to Mengele?

While it's true the NIH gave about $600k to the Wuhan Institute, before the money was granted, the NIH and the University of North Carolina, where the lead American on the project worked, deemed the project was not gain of function. Dr. Baric from UNC later gave a full, detailed statement.

The virus that the NIH funded research on was also not the origin of COVID-19. Too many genetic markers were different. So even if the research the NIH funded accidently resulted in Gain of Function, it wasn't responsible for the pandemic.

Last, you can question sending any money to fund research at the Wuhan lab, but most research scientists don't care about politics, nationality, or the like. Most care about the work and collaboration if/when it moves the work forward. There are, of course, rare exceptions, but dealing with SARS viruses, which are mostly found in bats found in Asia, it makes sense to study it over there.

What does motive matter when your policies have killed multitudes ? If my business practices were killing people I’m pretty sure I’d have gotten fired a long time ago.

Fauci should be awarded the Medal of Freedom for his service to our country.

Money and Power will cause people to change and act irrationally.

Fauci started his position in 1984. And 35 years later, suddenly he gets the urge to change, act irrationally, and seek money and power?!? Unlikely. And it's not like Fauci was starving. His salary was around $450k a year, and he's qualified for a full government pension. Would he really risk his reputation?

He certainly deviated from known medicine after the pandemic started. From masks. To Natural immunity. To not assessing the risk of a particular group. To ignoring what he said in 2019 about the best way to fight an upper respiratory illness (virus).

The man is evil. When did he switch? What caused him to switch? I don’t know.

But he trashed his career the last three years for sure…

You're asking the wrong questions of the wrong posters. You are not going to get a reasonable, thoughtful response.

Most of America certainly saw it and knows it now. Many were duped by him for sure.

There are a few like you who still think he is great. But definitely the minority.

It really is unfortunate he chose to trash his career during this…
