Lady Gators play tomorrow around 11:30 am or so Edit..they play 25 minutes after the 11 am game finishes
Happy for the guys and lets be honest, it has to feel good for TG to get a double digit type win aand sweep his predecessor without CC. I like Mike a lot. But glad we swept him to keep perspective.
I’m glad we didn’t try to keep White when he was looking for assurances and job security in Gainesville. He hit his ceiling, his offense was boring, and the program was stagnant. But he’s a good guy and a solid coach. I hope you meant this as a joke.
As usual thanks for the game updates. Missed the game, so good read in spite of the usual whiners. Always great to beat Georgia, but wish MW had gone to ole miss.
I really liked the lineup with Fudge at the 5 as a changeup. Hear he hasn't had much practice there and should be even better Saturday against LSU. Finishing 9-9 in the league would be a major accomplishment without Castleton for the final 5.
Of course. Love beating UG but Mike White’s name shouldn’t be rubbed through the mud like it has been. I’m sure this comment by me will be deleted too. But that’s ok ! Don’t know why I do this bs anyway.
He did. It wasn't his fault that our last AD felt the need to show everyone once again that he was the smartest guy in the room. If you wanted to maintain and :gulp: build on what Billy did, you had to spend the money to find an established coach, not reach down to the mid majors and hope to strike gold again.
Why didn't the refs stop the game while Fudge is lying on the floor? He could have been much more seriously injured. I don't think I've ever seen that.
I was thinking, why are Gator basketball players a l was thinking we are getting the worse end of the reffing every game. Injuries to opposing players stop the game and fouls are given to Florida players. The ref just stood at that end of the court and didn’t even run down the court to follow play. He didn’t even think about it. Fudge just laying in pain. CTG went out to say something to the ref when he was checking on Fudge. This is another example our program should be sending to the league office awaiting explanation of poor quality refs! When is our program going to wake up to this one sided allegiance to any team playing the Gators. This has to stop. Think of the Tennessee guard jumping out and kicking our guard defending him with three or four feet away, he missed the kick but got foul shots by this farce flop. Add this one to the mix going to the SEC office and demand explanations. All refs have to give up their allegiances to any team and have to explain their poor efforts!
How can you expect anyone to respect a program that was at the pinnacle of college basketball a decade and a half ago, and has fallen to this level? We don't deserve respect. We have an unranked and a 3-star commitment coming in next year. The basketball world can see this school's lack of commitment to developing a winning program here at Florida. Perhaps it was the price we had to pay for winning back-to-back championships. Duke has done it, and they did not fade into obscurity. Their academic program is ranked nationally higher than ours. So it is not that we can't recruit because of academics or that we are cursed from winning too much in the early 2000s. The reality is we have not had a coach who can recruit top players since Billy. We have not had a coach who can develop good players into great college players since Billy. Until we get someone with a track record like that, giving these young, unproven coaches shots at making names for themselves at our expense is why refs and the rest of the basketball world has ZERO respect for us.
I hear ya. Listen I have watch Gator Basketball since the early sixties. we have had some good teams and a lot of bad teams. It is what it is. CTG came in late to Florida had no time to get recruiting going. He is going after some damn good players and I for one appreciate it. He is going to lose a lot of them but he is going to get some. Stay patient. This years schedule is one I hope doesn’t happen every year, it was extremely tough. Arkansas, Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M are all good teams, even Miss St. and Missouri, whom we beat on the road. I didn’t mention, UConn, k-State, Oklahoma, Xavier! I hate that Castleton can’t make a whole year without getting hurt. He is short handed and we have gone through a late season walk of death schedule, try Alabama, Arkansas, late at night on the road, sssshhh. Come home to a one and done team coming on at the end of the year. CTG is going to build the depth and get some good players. The two bigs he has got already have some height and will grow as they get here. Both are going to be good players. He will get a late high school player or two and fill in with the transfer portal. I don’t claim to know whom will come or go, but I am hoping for the best. People all around the country know who Florida is and has been one of three or four teams to get to the final four, capturing lightning [back to back National Championships) in the bottle. North Carolina has never done it. So, we can do it again and it may never happen again. But we have done it and teams bring their A game when they see us coming. I believe, CTG can recruit better than CMW, but he is learning it is stacked against him with the prejudice of the SEC against us in all sports. He has a learning curve to go through with how to handle these lackluster refs in the SEC, how to use timeouts and using a lot of guys as not to wear down his team as seasons get longer and longer. He is a former starter in D1 basketball and made some noise, got San Francisco to the NCAA. I do know he will get us back, it is a matter of building a program just like Napier in Football. We have to stay patient, which I hate but we will get there and respect is coming, hang on!
I don't think I've ever seen Good post. But isn't NIL supposed to remedy recruiting issues for a school with deep pockets?
We don't know what we have in Coach Golden since he isn't even finished with his first season. He may become a monster recruiter and excellent in-game coach. He may become a Hall of Fame coach. Nobody thought Coach Donavon would be in his first couple of years. Coach Golden has certainly kept this team together after losing it's linchpin and all-SEC player. In my opinion, it's too early to proclaim Florida basketball dead. Also, Coach White recruited well enough . . . he just didn't get the breaks and didn't coach-up who he got. I plan to watch who Florida actually gets and see what Florida actually does next season . . . oh yeah, and after watching the rest of this one.
I always liked White and that is why I wish he had gone somewhere else, namely Ole Miss or really almost anybody not named Georgia. Cant root for him there. However, he always seemed to have one player every season that regressed under his guidance.
