I'd be more interested in what MAGAs outside of Florida are saying

Bumper sticker anecdotes backs up the polls. Even in FL I still see far more Trump-MAGA bumper stickers than DeSantis. It’s not even close. Like 50-1 or 100-1 type not even close. Granted, it’s very early in the “bumper sticker season”, and many of those are old ones fading away from 2016 or 2020. But even the “new” Trump 2024 I’d say outranks DeSantis easily. Hell a few had those barely months after Jan 6, 2021, which is just sickening for those people.

Id be inclined to think eventually Desantis would take FL, but even that doesn’t seem like a given. Or at least not as much a given as one might think. Never underestimate a cult.

in my world of mixed martial
Arts it is extremely disrespectful to wear another gym colors/shirts/gear to someplace else. If I train someplace other than my home gym I turn my shirt inside out just to show respect for the owner of where I am practicing. If you’re a total knucklehead looking for a scrap quickest way is to walk in and be loud wear other gear. With that as a backdrop I would kindly ask anyone wearing trump gear to please leave

It would be just like 2016. Trump had his core base and the others split all other votes.

Btw I really don’t want Biden vs Trump again.

It’s going to be DeSantis/Haley as the Republican ticket when the dust settles. They are going to go easy on each other early on and just work in beating Trump up. I don’t think Trump survives the primary or debates. Everyone knows Trump’s style and playbook and they will exploit it. He will be called out for his demeanor and honor especially from an ex-military officer. JMO.

IF they want to work on beating Trump, one of them should drop out right away instead of splitting the vote lol.

I just don’t see it. I think the schtik and name calling are wearing thin. Democrats hope you are right and Trump gets the nom.

Maybe, but Haley will be able to win soccer moms while staying above the fray. She also continues to add name recognition nationally. I think all three will be in the first debate but DeSantis goes easy on her and vice versa.

yet there are many republicans still in love with the Trump persona and DeS has no charisma to lure them with.

Certainly true. Trump beat Jeb the minute Jeb backed down to the “low energy” attack live. Huge mistake. Jeb lost his chance at being POTUS in one minute.

Ha, all the Trump voters trying to convince you they aren't Trump voters. Again.

DeSantis running as a less moronic Trump isn't much of a hook. Trump supporters aren't bothered at all that he is an idiot. It may even be a plus. I doubt many will leave the authentic cult to join a less charismatic one. What started as eye-rolling Own The Libs trolling by DeSantis is now actual legislation and massive formal policy that is toxic to all but the most devoted totalitarians, and that population is still going to break to Trump massively. No one will out-fascist Trump, he proved it. Turning a tiny college the size of my HS's senior class into a clown show has gotten a lot of pub, but it is amateur hour compared to organizing the overthrow of the federal government. Literally, what could DeSantis do to out-Trump Trump and also make up 8 million votes? It's basically not possible.

And calling the popo to run off Trump screechers is not even a dictator move, it's just standard Karen with a little more juice.

Very serious. Murdoch has been very open about leaving the Trump train. Watch how Trump lashes out at him. And, temporally speaking, Fox left Trump recently, long after they lied for him over the 2020 election)

    Which is why this will
Be a slow slog for him. I think there are more Republicans quietly opposed to Trump and will come out against him. His negatives are very high. Those high negatives cost Hillary. Nobody was inspired to vote for her.

don't discount the Koch machine and their decision to become involved in the primaries for the first time ever in an effort to try and steer towards less regulation, smaller gubmnt. Big brother DeS represents a gubmnt that they would presumably hate with his overregulation and gubmnt interference. I seriously hope they have a stalking horse ready to run closer to the center and don't back DeS. The dems really need to bring someone fresh.

DeSantis is a big wimp too, and he's a party guy like Jeb. DeSantis is trying to take the high road too, like Jeb. He's not going to mix it up with Trump, because all these guys know that attacking Trump alienates primary voters they need. The field is going to be even more wimpier with Trump than in 2016 when you could attack Trump because he hadnt won over the party at that point. Their best shot is trying to make it a 2 person contest early and hope enough people are skeptical Trump can win again without pissing off Trump to where he sabotages things.

That is the main issue. When Trump loses grip, he will switch to Independent and split the vote. Democrats win in both scenarios. If they can keep elevating Trump as the apparent primary winner, then they get the contest of their choice. However, should he lose, they know he will probably pull out of the party and run as an independent.

The fact that Trump may get elected again after trying to overthrow the government when he lost the 2020 election tells you all you need to know about America today.

yep. Have to give dems credit in 2020. The timing of when warren dropped out during primaries helped Biden who had the best chance to beat trump. And that was paramount for them.

and yet DeS represents many of Trump's worse characteristics. Close minded, vengeful, oversteps legal authority with impunity and no concern for consequences, surrounds himself with sycophants who are wholly unqualified, and is far right religiously which will appeal to some pubs and not at all to others.
