Maj's big thing was for us to drop FSU. Of course that was after the Swindle, but still. Not gonna happen, nor should it. I believe many of those mentioned have passed and like Buckeye, I can only hope to be remembered here after I'm gone.
wormwood was funny, would just throw up a bunch of data to prove a point but his stats were just wrong, not even just narrowed down to irrelevancy. Called him out several times but for some reason he never replied
Radbag was an interesting character. I remember shanebo from those days as well. I was 15 or 16 when I joined the original boards. I’ll be 42 in March. I don’t post nearly as much as I used to. It’s fun to remember the old days though. The Pub used to get pretty wild back in the day. There was the one poster who left his browser open and his wife read something he posted that implemented cheating and she exposed him under his avatar and called his buddy out on the boards. I can’t remember who was all involved but to this day that’s one of the craziest threads I’ve ever read here.
There are literally hundreds of missing great posters from this board who used to be here. Many were insiders. Many were a strong part of this community and built it from back when it was a simple message tree. Some insiders left for competing sites. Some journalists left for other outlets. Some grew their careers here and then moved on to better things such as Laura McKinnon who is now Laura Rutledge. Many posters were unjustly and harshly purged by RAD who almost single handedly ruined this board. A change in rules regarding non-Gator fans arbitrarily eliminated high quality posters that made this board great back in the day and who were here for a decade or longer prior. Many left during the Ron Zook era when the rules were not enforced and there was an intolerable amount of vitriol and personal attacks allowed. I almost left then. Some got lost in platform migrations. Many left when the chat feature was discontinued. Some left because they outgrew the need and get their satisfaction elsewhere. Most great posters left when it was no longer a source of inside information. It just isn’t that anymore. Things change. And, while I miss the strong community that was once here, I am glad I got to enjoy it enough to know it is missing today.
We need a gator country historian to document all this stuff I'm on year 25 of this, but many of those early years have faded from memory to history to legend to myth to forgotten.
Was the Cecil? There were also a thread a few years ago where GC got pulled into some Canadian message board drama over a poster who lied about some travails they were going through to raise money for himself; and they tracked him to here. Or the raid on the A&M boards well before they joined the league that netted us a few decent posters for a while. Or the shadow board. Or the Vanders drama.
Interesting information. Can you please explain who/what RAD is and the what rules were made regarding non-Gator fans?
I remember the poster who was asking for money. They were doing the same on other message boards. IIRC, they claimed to be from AL, but I don't remember the username, do you?
