As direct as I can say this, you didn’t answer the question. Because I bet the answer is that none of your kids’ teachers have come close to”indoctrinating” your kids. It’s a BS issue contrived in a Boardroom by Rufo.

And, to further answer, my kids went to public schools and there was not a single instance of indoctrination of them or their friends, peers, or anyone else we have known.

    It’s all a gargantuan-sized propagandized contrivance.

Has it happened? I’m sure it has. Is it a Floridian emergency worthy of the political capital and division? Hell no.

it is fear porn spread by the right wing accomplices.

What percentage would you qualify as a select few? Do you understand that people can be in favor of something but it still be wrong and against the constitution?

If he is the Republican presidential nominee in 2024 Ron DeSantis will demonstrate the surprising ability of a smooth 47-year old candidate to mobilize voters under the age of 40 to vote for a somewhat bumbling octogenarian.

Other than that, how was the play Mrs Lincoln?
Dont forget the school board dismissal and the poor guy from the Villages. The list is long and consistently vengeful.

Thank you for that. It’s impossible to recall them all. I mean, this thread alone is 2,025 posts so far. And there is no signs of it slowing. That tells you there’s an issue with people not approving of his policies and methods.

I feel like this is normalizing behavior that is anything but. It's like saying, "Yeah, George Wallace and Ross Barnett flouted the Constitution, but so did Barack Obama at times." What DeSantis is doing isn't normal. It's not healthy for our state.

I understand why some might like him based on the very different opinions on how elected officials should have handled the pandemic. But I also am disgusted that they are so willing to overlook or support the erosion of rights, simply because he's going after people they consider their political opposition.

Smoother than Biden although your point is well taken. A number of commentators have suggested that DeSantis will not do well when he has to answer questions extemporaneously in a multi-candidate debate. In fact one of them suggested that he could end up following in the footsteps of one his predecessors as governor who also decided to run for presidency. As a reminder in 2015 Jeb Bush was considered one of the favorites for the Republican nomination. The other guy who also ran successful campaigns as governor of another state didn't do very well either in the end.

Jeb is, IMO, very intelligent but behind bland before a camera. He never really had large scale adversity to deal with on his feet. DeSantis does, albeit he controls the environment much better. None of the Pubbies will throw too much dirt at each other in a really hostile environment, save Trump. And I don’t know how long Trump will last through the primaries. So I think DeSantis is long- term better situated to make it through the primaries than Jeb the last time around.

Big time disagree. A lot has changed in a short period of time. I used to be a school counselor as well, it’s all different although the lack of discipline remains.
My older child has come home to tell me how teachers were demeaning trump and putting kids in the spot about how they would vote.
As I said you’re either happy that woke crap is trying to become commonplace or youre a bit naive to what’s going on.

Dont forget that the Koch machine is changing policies to be more involved in the primaries. I can't see how they could support DeS or Trump in the primaries and they have a large machine in place. Perhaps I am overly optimistic but I don't think they will support DeS

I am rooting for desantis as you might have inferred from my posts. I didn’t love his victory speech as he ran up the score last election. He brought up the woke stuff in that speech more than I needed to hear it and I did cringe a bit.
You already know how I feel about your posting style. I’ll say it again…you’re an exemplary poster who listens and finds a polite way to disagree without throwing bombs.
    Love it.

Unfortunately, I don’t think that your own judgement of your ability to read and see can get us out of this puzzle, as the major question was how we can be confident in our own estimations of our abilities.

I also don't think your list quite gets us there. Personally, I find most of the items compelling, but 1) the items aren’t as compelling for DeSantis supporters, and 2) such people could easily produce a similar list of the failings of his opponents. E.g.: 11 Of The Biden Administration's Greatest Failures So Far

Our task here is more difficult, as it requires not only demonstrating the validity of our claims but also taking a step back to seek objective justifications of their importance. For example, I don’t see how we can take logically-backed stand on the question of whether the rights of the individual should supersede that of the community. This is a question that must necessarily be instead based on values. And confusingly, the left and right flip flop their places on this spectrum depending on the particular topic.

To me, this Disney thing is one of the least defensible political actions in recent memory. But these politicians are not single actions. They are instead more like shopping carts that already filled to the brim with groceries. Maybe you prefer a combination of instant oats, diapers, decaf coffee, and lamb chops to a combination of bologna, green bananas, Dr. Pepper, and spaghetti, but probably none of us is going to like all of the things in any pre-filled shopping cart. And worse still, once we choose a cart, we start to like the things in it more and like the things in the other cart, simply because of which cart they are in.

I am not saying that supporting DeSantis is the better -or even comparable- choice, but I think assuming all his supporters to be idiots or evil is problematic. I’m fact, I believe this view ends up justifying much of DeSantis’ contemptible behavior. Once you believe the other side can’t possibly have any claim to the objective truth, why not silence them?

I can remember as early as 4th grade taking a classroom vote on Presidential candidates. In late years we were queried as to why. In still later years we debated and defended our choice.
Up till now I thought we were being provided an education in civics and being encouraged to develop our critical thinking and ability to think on our feet.

But now I realize I was just being indoctrinated by minions of the government school.

I don’t think he disagrees with your take on Ron. He was encouraging you to attenuate your verbal assault on Desantis supporters.

Objectivity could be your friend. Don’t fight it.
I know you can try harder. Don’t let my avatar and posting history persuade you into making that misguided post. You probably went to grade school in the 70s or 80s.
Times have changed, Obama, Trump and social media have made the world a very different place…Not for the better.

Of course they can. You guys are the ones in here vilifying the guy right after he dominated the governor election. The liberal media have anything to do with this?
The select few seem to be the sanctimonious progressives who hate the republican Christians.
