Was listening to that blowhard Danny Kennel on the radio this morning and he was talking about having tiered revenue sharing in the ACC with Half Ass U, Clemson and miami getting larger shares of the TV revenue.
I understand why he would want that but why would the other schools go along with it. Without the other schools, the conference would probably fold.
He was worried that if FSU doesn't get more money, they will fall behind the SEC and Big 10 teams. Although I think the Big 10 has some sort of tiered system and Rutgers and Maryland aren't full members or something.

Vandy is stealing money so there is some validity.

I find the timing of this funny, 10 years ago clemson was almost irrelevant and wouldn't have said anything and they go on a nice run and they start to squawk, meanwhile fsu has been crap for almost the same time, then they have one decent year again and they chime in. miami, I'm not sure what their argument is, other than they used to be good... when they were in the big east

I get it they're falling behind but it's the deal they agreed too, maybe higher better leadership

They are but the alternative is to starve the teams that "don't measure up" and create less parity than already exists. Vandy is never going to invest their revenue in making their football team better as they would rather spend it on buying more microscopes or something.
However, they are a longtime member and have value in baseball and basketball. Some of the less successful teams in the ACC might take it since they are just happy to be in a conference. I don't think any teams in the SEC (save Vandy) see themselves like that.

They should be careful what they wish for. UNC, Duke and Virginia may take the same logic and apply it to basketball.

Maybe that’s part of the overall strategy — create such discord that the other members don’t want them around anymore.

The interesting part they talked about was how a buyout would work if they wanted to leave. Apparently, the cost to leave the conference isn't that much, 120K or so. But, the grant of rights to the TV package could easily be 4 times that since it runs through 2035 or something.

FSU is trapped. They have signed a signed GOR that goes for 10+ more years. At the current payouts FSU will be over 400m in revenue behind UF and 200m behind UCF. FSU's only (and traditional) play is to whine and hope they get released from their GOR or get lopsided payout from the ACC contract in hopes of keeping them around (although they are already handcuffed)

I would not talk bad about Vandy. They seem to have our number this year.

Correct, I put a K and should have been M. The TV rights were 400 million or so for their part.

Regarding revenue sharing, when will the bamers and bulldogs require an extra share for winning football titles?

Considering the GREED quotient of the SEC presidents, I'm sure that will be proposed.

Where did he get that turtleneck? Goodwill?

True but I see half of the top division dropping to a lower division
