Pretty sure it was QANON nutjobs blaming the United Stares govt, with Senator Rand Paul leading the lynch mob against Fauci in particular - latching on to “gain of function” research.

China floated some crazy theory about the U.S. military, and nobody here believed that. This is just you lying/projecting, which seems like your thing.

Paul’s work on this was spot on all the way. He was highlighting the fact that we sponsored the same labs where this virus originated from and Fauci was lying through his teeth about it. Fauci has always thrown cold water on the Wuhan lab theory and the main reason being it can be documented he sent American taxpayer dollars overseas to fund those labs.

NIH funds research all over the world. If you are studying new viruses, you have to go where the viruses are or are likely to be found. You aren’t going to study Ebola in Nova Scotia. Apparently bat caves in China are a hotbed for coronaviruses. For $600k it’s not accurate to say this was a U.S. funded lab. That money was likely just for a few researchers to participate or share the facility. Once the outbreak happened, if any U.S. based researchers were there at the time they were “expelled” by the Chinese govt. Regardless of the true source, the CCP wanted to control the narrative.

The way I see it, I’m not sure why proving “lab leak” is important to U.S. conservatives, at least not normal ones. Esp as the lab leak theory would likely be attributed to accidental infection of a lab worker or poor environmental controls. A “wet market” or some crazy “traditional Chinese medicine ” thing would be just as embarrassing to the Chinese. But of course then you don’t get the dopamine hit conspiracy theories about it being an “engineered bioweapon” or recasting Dr. Fauci as Mengele.

Come on man now the Biden administration is being controlled by Pubs?

How does being pro vaccine or anti vaccine have anything to do with the origins of this virus?

You don’t see the difference if this escaped from a lab versus if it crossed species in a wet market?

While I’m sure the motivations of many on the right aren’t pure in their lust for a lab leak, nonetheless if human error resulted in millions of death world wide, we need to know that and need to understand why. This research is supposed to help us become safer. Causing millions of deaths that otherwise wouldn’t have happened is exactly the opposite of what we are trying to accomplish.

If this was a lab leak then two of the deadliest pandemics in recent history were lab leaks, the other being the Russian flu which killed 700k.

    Not particularly.

Of course you want to nail it down for posterity, but nothing changes with either scenario.

If it’s a lab leak, what are we going to do? Demand China up their labaratory protocol so it “never happens again”.

Likewise, if it’s wet-market/Trad. Chinese medicine. We can demand they crack down on those practices so it “never happens again”.

The only thing certain is eventually, it will happen again. When. Not if.

10 myths told by COVID experts -- now debunked (nypost.com)
Misinformation #1: Natural Immunity offers little protection compared to Vaccinated Immunity
Misinformation #2: Masks prevent COVID transmission
Cochran Reviews are considered the most authoritative and independent assessment of evidence in medicine. And one published last month by a highly-respected Oxford research team found that masks had no significant impact on COVID transmission.

Misinformation #3: School closures reduce COVID transmission

And yet we have the same fools denying the facts which has been obvious for quite some time

Bullshit. We don’t know definitively where it came from. And that of course does not excuse Trump straight lying to the American people’s faces REPEATEDLY about the severity of the disease. Sometimes you need the truth - not just what you want to hear.

I think it escaped in Wuhan by accident. Once escaped, they used it to their advantage.

Its important to communist governments and authoritarians to never be wrong (and we had our own endeavors with Mr. ”alternative facts”).

Not sure there was any strategic play to gain an advantage, they basically just went full panic to crack down and control the outbreak (as well as the narrative, by locking down information). There was no “advantage” gained that I can see as they also gimped their own economy (perhaps permanently, with more and more companies diversifying outside China). They created internal dissent from their screwups which is never a good thing for a communist regime. Although they must have learned some things about American society as well, that was likely more of a side-product imo.

. Viruses that infect animals have to have mechanisms to pass outdoors where the animals live. Throughout the pandemic, the guidance was to socialize outdoors— night or day. Mainly at night.

Engineering and lab leak are not identical. A virus can escape from a lab even of it is not engineered. We know the virus is not synthetic because it has been genetically studied. Now, were experiments done that allowed it to adapt to attacking different tissues in the body? It sure acted that way.

The virus has not been genetically studied. Rather, has been ‘computer-ly’ constructed. Translation: made up. A computer sequence. A mental construct.

When you and others were 100% wrong on lockdowns, school closures, masks and vaxxing kids, yeah I guess I'd try to change the subject also LOL. Good try sport.
