She made no decision what would happen to the child, just that she wouldn't take care of it. She walked away. What you are describing is that the child is not actually at all dependent on her specifically after birth and does not actually require any actions by the mother. There is the difference.

She absolutely made the decision to not kill the child. She left the responsibility to care for it to others.

Now she could have birthed the child and left it in the woods to die. But in your hypothetical she made the decision to leave the child where others would take care of it.

The child will dependent on the mother or others for much longer outside the womb than it was on the mother inside the womb.

"Or others" is the key to your statement. They are not dependent on a single person. They are separate and, therefore, can be cared for by literally billions of people. That is not true after conception.

    And?

At conception it is the mother and father who created the Life. Your Life began at that point as a zygote. Your development began at that point. Your 46 chromosomes and DNA began at that point. Separate from your mother.

We know this. It is an absolute amazing process that our Lives develop through. All beginning at conception!

Scenario: Fertility clinic is on fire, you can either save 100 frozen human embryos or 1 puppy that got locked inside.

I’m going for the puppy, every time. No hesitation. Maybe some of those embryos were important to someone (like if they were from a deceased spouse), but otherwise they have no real value and are not “life”… not worth risking life to save. The Puppy on the other hand would be a terrified, aware, living thing. This is why you save it. A developing fetus is not that until several months into a pregnancy.

They are not separate at that stage because they are completely dependent on a single person. That person dies, they die. Not true after birth. In no other context would either of us define life as simply a function of chromosomes and DNA. For example, identical twins are not the same zygote when they are conceived despite the same DNA at that stage.

Your Life began at conception as a zygote. I know you understand this. That is when your development to where you are today began. Be thankful your mother and those in your life nurtured you to the point of being able to not depend on others.

Just our luck one of those barbequed embryos would be the future National Championship winning QB at FL. I’m sure they’d already be on the radar of the TH recruiting forum.

Well, despite your continuing random use of capital letters, its nice to see you finally acknowledging there is a difference between a zygote and a child. Progress.

    LOL!

Yes. I know you understand your Life began as a zygote with 23 chromosomes from your mother and 23 chromosomes from your father. You had your own DNA. SEPARATE from your mother.

I am not sure if you are making progress or not. But I am confident you understand your development began at conception to the point you are at today. You even provided a nice piece explaining your development in the earliest stages.

But you guys do realize that your own argument harms you here right. I understand this position, but it still flies in the face of my body, my choice.

My body, my choice would end at birth.

If we are going to draw a line before birth than we are all "forcing births".

I view murder as the law does. Intent is important. A 16 year old doesnt think she is harming a human being. A scared young woman has been told it isnt ahiman being.

Intentional murder requires one knowing they kill a human in my eyes.

Perhaps I see it more like manslaughter, but even that seems strong.

I was referring to your statement 'I find the two extremes on either side to be unreasonable.' What, to you, are the extremes? Is allowing abortions up to 15 weeks extreme?

Extreme are the people who entertain any thought that a rape/incest victim should EVER be required to carry to term if a pregnancy results. That would be like raping the woman every day for 9 months, except with society as the ongoing rapist. Just immeasurable psychological damage in addition to the physical toll. I bet those barbarians' tune would change if it was (God forbid) their wife or teenage child who was savagely attacked and impregnated. I can't imagine them thinking "innocent baby" thoughts as their 16 year olds belly got a little bigger every day as the pregnancy progressed and they heard their child throwing up every morning. Forcing those pregnancies to term is sadistic.

The American Taliban wants to erase all worker gains ever made in this country.

As part of this, they want kids working 12 hours a day, 6 days a week for pennies for them. Therefore, they need a greater population of children. Since one woman can have multiple children, the female's life is far less important. Plus, they tend to vote against the policies and politicians that favor their gestational slavery to men.

Prohibition of something people think is a fundamental right won't end until the rights are restored. It didn't end well for prohibition, segregation, suffrage, and the list is long. Groups who want to bar your basic rights will lose. They will lose again... and again... and again. Trying to deny rights is the bullshit this country has dealt with for 250 years.

The fundamental thing making this analogy is the idea that the pro-lifers are actually “saving lives”. They imagine they are. In reality, they aren’t. Abortion restrictions doesn’t impact the #’s of women who need or seek abortions. It just makes it more dangerous for them.

Some might say the same thing about covid restrictions. To some extent the govt is powerless against a virus (no such thing as a consequence free pandemic), but it’s also demonstrable that inaction or misinformation (govt driven propaganda or otherwise) costs lives. Whereas striking a good balance with public health saves lives.

There are states where it is illegal for a woman to have an abortion and the right is pushing for abortion to be illegal everywhere. Are there any states where it is illegal to not be vaccinated and is anyone on the left calling for that?
