I believe we have really good pitchers but not an ace. It seems those who have the pitching goes the farthest. I think we really miss the pitching coach that went to OK.
If and when Lexie Delbrey gets back to full strength and stamina, she has the ability to be an All-SEC type ace. She was the #2 pitching recruit in the nation in 2021 and showed flashes of it last year. Let's see how the season and her full recovery from off season surgery plays out.
After the "quality" of FloSoftball's Mary Nutter Classic, your second question takes on a whole new relevance. I guess you can call it a "broadcast" when you have one static camera in center field, get a great view of the backside of the center fielder, but not much of a view of the plate, and completely miss plays in right field and left field.
The baseball team is playing their games at almost the same times on SEC+ and SEC Network-I'll be watching them and keep up with stats on SB.

Surprised on Flo quality.. Ive used it in past for both softball & baseball. Both were no different than any other stream. i think I recall a UAB game on the cusatv app, not working for first 20 minutres or so once.. and might be the one camera behind homeplate feed.. But its cheap, so better than nothing.
I think it is a good thing. Makes these girls realize they have some work to do. As long as they finish 8 or better they host a super regional. If it was my decision I would dump the Mary Nutter and try to get in the tournament in Clearwater. That tournament is loaded with good teams and there would be much less hassle as far as transportation. Plus the intimidation of the orange and blue Gator bus sitting there intimidates the opposition.
Ive always assumed the California trips were for recruiting purposes since California has long been the premier state for HS softball.
Havent looked at the HS recruiting #s recently, but I think other states are catching up, especially Texas.
Plus an opportunity for the UF players from California to have friends/family see them play in person.
Well our ladies should free fall but it’s still so early in season. How they finish is more important than how they start. That said I’m sure we’re all disappointed with the performance this past weekend.
They've already filled the Clearwater field for 2024, but I agree that Florida needs to get in a better tournament(s) before heading West. I like them going out there, though. USF used to get better teams to participate in their tournament as well (last year Michigan was there) and it would be nice if UF could entice better teams to play in the 2 pre-conference tournaments in Gainesville. This year's home pre-conference agenda is pathetically weak, with UCF and Louisiana the only decent teams among the 17 games we play.
Someone was saying we do the USF tournament because of the head coach relationship, that’s all well and good but the gators should be in a real tournament. Clearwater in our backyard and it’s a great tournament. I do like the trips out west also, put a good brand on the field and get those recruits. Plus, like you said our cali girls can play in front of family.
Michigan not what they once were losing a legendary coach and all. The Clearwater invitational is a rather new tournament isn’t it?
