Being without Skylar Wallace hurt and it appears Delbrey is limited in her pitch count and is nowhere near back to form. They've got a couple of week to get it together against teams we should beat before it gets real in the SEC part of the schedule. 11-3 isn't bad, but when you look at the schedule we lost to the only 3 good teams we've played, and got blown out with on ly 1 hit combined against two of them, it kind of makes you wonder.
Well put. It will be interesting to see how they bounce back. When we pulled ahead in the 8th, I was thinking that the long flight home would be tolerable with a come from behind victory in extra innings but then......
The first 10 games against inferior teams were misleading. These last 4 tell the real story-we struggle against good pitching and we don't have a shutdown pitcher.
I prefer to wait and see if we improve before making that conclusion after a couple weeks into the season
Not making a conclusion, just going by the results. The 2 best teams we played outscored the Gators 18-0 and we had 1 hit.
But the bulk of this team made it to WCWS last year.....we know most of them can play at an elite level. Just didn't perform this weekend.
Natalie Lugo was an important part of the pitching staff last year and Gigante and Bender won't fill the void this year.
You're right and I appreciate your insight. I guess the crappy weather and not having Wallace had an affect also. What do think about the pitching situation? EH can't do it all.
More concerned about pitching, Delbrey remains wild card while Rylee really hasn't stepped up. Liz is an ideal #2 having to be an ace
Delbrey seems to me to be a determined young lady. I think she will get it turned around. She had moments of greatness last year except for her wildness. She had the second lowest allowed batting average in the SEC. If she doesn't come around she could be on the outside looking in next year. Brown and Rothrock are coming to Gainesville and it doesn't get any better than those two.
Folks, this team had the road trip from hell. They were supposed to arrive on Wednesday, but the airline gods conspired against them. They left Tampa on Thursday at 7am, the day of the UCLA game. They got in to LAX at 9 am PST, get their luggage, drive 2+ hours to Palm Springs, and then had to check into their hotel. They got a nap, and then went to prepare for their game against UCLA. We need to cut them some slack.
I believe one of the broadcast announcers for Gator radio said that she's out for the year. Haven't seen it confirmed anywhere else, though.
The announcer said he had an interview with CTW and coach confirmed it. So idk, shame if it’s true. Can she redshirt twice? I have no idea how that works.
I just read where you can get a sixth year of eligibility with a redshirt but it is more difficult to get. I think she would qualify but she just might have had enough.
