Man on 1B / 1 out B/WP moves runner to 2B/ Purnell comes in Ks - Guidry grounds out to 3B. Runner stays.
Thanks to everyone pitching in for a clearer picture! And as always, Thank You to @Gatorgal04 for all of your efforts.
that was no jab it was suppose to be funny. Name a baseball team that doesn't have at least two throw away games. Ours was just early.
A Win is a Win but that was not an elegant game – Cinci. gifted us several runs with seriously bad fielding. But man- Gators pitching has to get better. With big leads and repeatedly giving up free passes? By my count, Gators pitchers gave up at least 10-11 free passes between walks and HBPs. You can scratch out a win against a team like the Bearcats but things have to be cleaned up very soon to beat quality teams. Gators have yet to be tested by solid team-- Miami next weekend should be a first test. Sproat did ok but not exactly lights out as he was well up in pitch count (87?) and could only go 5 inninngs. Slater... well, jury is out on how effective he can be. Nice close by Purnell. Let's put it all together tomorrow with Waldrep on the bump. Kurland is a Hoss.
1977— Not to be too negative but with regards to our pitching to go along with the walks we have entirely too many balls put in play hard on 0-2 counts IMHO.
Back from the game. Sproat looked locked in for several innings but seem to lose focus in his last inning. It seemed almost unfair for him to throw curveballs for strikes on the first pitch. Slater was depending too much on his fastball. Do I place the blame on Sully for that? Good to see Purnell back out there and doing a good job. That will help him put last Wednesday night out of his mind. Good to see Halter get some hits. And why was Rivera held up at third when he clearly could have scored an inside the park home run?
