Yep. Get the CC permit. The training class you have to take is worth going through. You learn important things that may save your life, or at the very least keep you out of jail.

Carrying without a permit is stupid

I believe FL will soon eliminate the required CC license.

I wouldn’t think violent felons would be included in that right?

I took a hunters safety course when I was 14. That’s all I needed to get my CC when I moved back in 2020. Didn’t have to take any cc specific course.

They’re still available and you can take it in lieu of a concealed carry course. I was surprised they accepted a course from 20 years ago. Getting a permit in TX was much more difficult.

I guess a class is a class. My kids had to take gun safety but we didn’t years ago

I was born after ‘75, so it was required for me before I could buy an adult license and hunt on my own.

In TX, we had to take a six or eight hour course, which included a shooting test, where you had to put timed rounds on target at multiple distances. You also had to apply for your permit within a year or two, or you had to start over. They definitely didn’t just accept a 20 yr old safety course.

In GA, all you have to do is go down to the courthouse, fill out the paperwork, and give them your prints and a pic.

Silly post. “Freedom” doesn’t mean do whatever the hell you want any time you want anywhere you want and screw everybody else who don’t like what you’re doing.

Would you approve of everybody being able to hop in a car and drive all over the place without any training, experience, or a license?

Im as strong a supporter of the 2nd Amendment as anyone, but people need to know what you are, and aren’t supposed to do with a handgun. The CC class is very little about shooting and almost all about when you should, and shouldn’t draw your weapon. Scenarios are discussed and reviewed - what you should be thinking, looking for, alternative actions to draw your weapon. The class is designed to make you think. Paramount is ‘what action is your best chance of survival’? Is your car or your stuff worth dying for? Is it worth killing for?……

This is about responsibility, not freedom

Yep, in Florida ( born in 68), we had zero requirements. When I was in the fourth grade, I had two rifles and a shotgun. I just had to leave a note for my mom which direction I was headed so she knew where to look if I didn’t show back up at a reasonable time. Then an actual hunting license when I was old enough to require one. My dad and his friends use to have their guns in a gun rack in the truck in highschool while at school. Times have changed. Lots more rules but somehow the rules don’t really help much. It’s just worse now.

Yet we do have the right to bear arms. It’s not a privilege. I guess we also have the responsibility.
