The Bearcats are on the road seeking better weather. They opened 2023 in Atlanta with a 4-game series at Georgia State. They split the series, but lost one game by forfeit (no explanation on the box score). Cincinnati finished 2022 with a 24-31 record/12-12 in Am Athletic Conf. This is a cut & paste from a Bearcats article. The game was ruled a double forfeit, but had Georgia State ahead 3-2 after 7 innings. Both teams were charged with a loss: "The Bearcats lost to the Panthers 12-2, then had wins of 9-4 on Saturday and 6-4 last Sunday. In between was a 3-2 game that was scored a double forfeit when the two teams had a shoving incident after UC turned an inning-ending double play."
Speaking of wafting, when Sproat takes the mound Friday his pitching is going to feel like a breath of fresh air after Wednesday night. Thank you thank you I've been saving that one since my ride home last night.
And when the defense makes routine plays and the catcher isn't waving at balls like he doesn't know what's coming, it will feel good as well.
Did you know that Sandy Koufax was a walk-on for the University of Cincinnati freshman baseball team?
Of course, 2 of our 3 errors last night were committed by starters (Evans and Rivera), with the other being committed by a pitcher (Tejada).
Just flew into Jax tonight from Atlanta. The plane was loaded with the Cincinnati baseball team. They then loaded on a bus at the airport to Gainesville.
I expect Sully to send a strong message tonight. After Sproat is done, its only the best out of the bullpen. Look for some combination between Slater, Fisher, Ficarrotta, and Neely. As always lock in the win for game 1, especially after Wednesday. Fic will probably be held until Sat or Sun.
Does anyone know yet the visitors pick for run rule or not? Or is the Cincy coach wafting on his decision?

Alright folks, I’m not sure anyone is going to like to read this—I’ve tried to log on to several other SEC baseball games before ours and I am getting “Media not allowed”—access to this program is not included in your provider subscription…….we pay for it and have had no real issues until now… Closer inspection shows most of the listed games for tonight are posted as usual BUT they are without the ESPN+ logo. These are the games that will not stream to your preferred game—and yes our Gators game is without the ESPN+ logo….. This is complete BS!
