First, we had a fan who basically grabbed a UK player who had fallen out of bounds. The fan was rightfully ejected from the game. Is this the first year we have had fans sitting in the fold out chairs on the court? There may be some questions asked about that, as it was an embarrassing situation. Next, the announcers gave some screen time to The Shrieker. This was at the 7:57 minute mark of the 2nd half. We now know what she looks like and that she's a senior Sports Media major. I'm hoping that @akaGatorhoops can connect and get an interview.
There is already a thread on the fan that was ejected form the game. I thought he grabbed the player seeing it on tv last night but after watching the video posted on another thread I dont think he was even looking at the player and was pointing out at the court when the player ran into his out stretched arm. The fan looked surprised and like he tried to get away from the player at that point. I think they said the shriekers name was Laura.
Sorry, I didn't see the other thread. Mods, please merge if appropriate. I won't post the Shrieker's name, but believe you are close, but not quite accurate.
Why were they ejected? It certainly was because he reached and grabbed the player, because he didn't, nor did his buddies. I'm thinking that it could be either they can't stand during play or they can't have any contact with a player, their fault or not. The 2 buddies made no contact, but were ejected also.
I didn't realize the other two were ejected also. As for grabbing, it sure looked like he did. At any rate, the fan should never be in a position where that might happen (i.e. stay in your seat during game play if you're sitting just 5' from the court).
It looked to me like the fan couldn't get his arm out of the way in time and the player ran through it, making it look like he was being held. Looked like a freak play to me. Not sure I care though.
Please don't interview that chick. That just encourages and enables the "hey lookit me" crowd that ruins sports.
no grabbing. dude was pointing at another player, UK player rolled into his arm, his elbow bent and he couldn't have pulled it away any quicker. the announcers are drama queens.
I just changed your title a bit. We can talk about the "grabber" in one and the "shreiker" in the other . . . or both. It's no big deal.
Ba humbug! Here's my thought . . . we've put up with listening to this person for years. Sure, she's annoying, but how many fans are more dedicated? She's at nearly every home game giving it her all. Now, she's a senior in Journalism/sports media and will graduate soon. I'm interested in hearing her story and this might be kind of a nice send off for one of our fellow Gators. I think others would support Brent getting this interview.
She has no story. She has a grating voice. She clearly thinks she's the show, and is trying hard to get the attention to propel her to media stardom. Unfortunately, her career will peak with doing unboxing videos on YouTube.
Thank you. The announcer said the fan should be ejected and not allowed at another SEC basketball game ever. Just so over the top. So I went back and re-watched it because I thought I must have missed something. Instead I saw what you just said- more of an accident and a fan who was caught by surprise. IMO- they were playing to the UK fans.
Announcers definitely overreacted and I don’t know how much intention there was in any of those fans actions. What I do think it shows is that their intentions weren’t overtly to NOT impede the action. If your goal is to be out of the way, that last guy isn’t standing between Cason and where he needed to run with his arm out. I think his arm could have moved faster than it did as well.
$$ Thaddeus Bullard (aka Titus O'Neil) sat in court-side seats when we played Ohio pUK dude, you should have stopped while you were ahead. The pUKe player was out of bounds and ran into the fan's out-stretched arm. It's tough to pull out of the way when you're being pulled in another direction. The fan was not even watching the player. If there is a rule state states fans cannot interfere with players, accidently or not, then the ejection is warranted for ONE fan. If such rule does not exist, the fans are due an apology by the SEC
The guy that brought all the attention looked like it was completely unintentional. Obviously you have to eject him, but the way the announcers went on about it was ridiculous. Funny thing is one of the other guys actually did clearly tug the UK players jersey to try and impede him, not in a huge way but you can’t do that at all even if the guy literally falls in your lap. That was the Busch league move out of all that. I’d have no problem with that one guy being banished.
