Looks like UM fans found a snippet from 247’s insider board where Rudner tells everyone he heard Colbert had been looking around because he didn’t enjoy Gainesville. I’m sure nothing will come or that lol. I mean it definitely won’t come up on the site’s main YouTube show this afternoon right ?

If he likes LA, being uncomfortable in Gainesville is understandable.

I think it is common for people to not enjoy everyplace they work/live. I have no real issue with Colbert making whatever change he needs to make for himself or family. I just think Rudner’s post is not helpful. Ultimately none of this actually matters.

It's too bad that Brian Hartline played for OSU and not the Gators. I remember how good he was as a player.

Oh, and maybe we need a sarcasm emoticon/emoji so that the few people here don't take my posts so literally... I know Hartline played for the Buckeyes. It was a rhetorical statement. But I would like anyone as good at recruiting and coaching as he is. Someone as good is hard to find, but we need the next Hartline out there to be our next receivers' coach.

He'd be a great get. We could use an experienced coach with head coaching experience to boot. He fits the bill to be a receivers' coach and an OC to Napier.

I’m surprised that more people aren’t pushing for Dallas Baker. He has been coaching now for a few years and has made it to the P5.

Dont think Billy can go “small school/unproven” route anymore than he already has with the staff imo

He doesn't "commit" to anyone; he signs a contract that allows BOTH parties, the coach AND the school, to have a way out at any point of the deal.

I'm so sick of people crying about the players needing this and the players needing that and the players deserve more, blah blah blah. They already have more perks and opportunities than most kids their age could possibly dream of. If you give these players the freedom to jump around whenever and wherever they want, college football will cease to exist.

Nobody is holding a gun to their heads forcing them to play football. So what if a coach leaves? Big deal, get over it. It's asinine to suggest the big bad system holds the poor players hostage and makes them slaves to the university. These players are in a very privileged position whether you want to recognize it or not.

And that is where you fail to realize the scholarship is nothing more than a contract as well. Both parties should be able to exit the contract when it ends(yearly) and move on if they so wish.

Baker coaches at Baylor under Aranda, is that considered a small school?

Baker is an unknown. If he wasn’t a former Gator, we wouldn’t be mentioning him. Ike Hilliard would be a better candidate if we wanted to go the alumni coaching route

You would say that but Baker has far more college experience than Hillard.
Baker has been recruiting for 7 plus years.
Hillard has 1 yr of college experience and is unemployed. He spent the rest of his time in the pros.

Timing isn’t right. He needs a proven guy to balance it out. Jeff Scott is absolutely perfect. I like the idea of what he did on defense, with a young, unproven DC but veteran position coaches underneath him.

I get it. But you have to wonder how Bateman is feeling right now. A decade of experience at DC and BN passes him over for the job.

He should be feeling that his group severely underperformed last year and def doesn’t deserve a promotion. Who knows if he even wanted it. If I am a young guy, I am salivating at the opportunity to run the defense filled with veteran position coaches in a recruiting hotbed such as Florida.
The real question is we are now down 2 coaches. Do we hire a safety coach and one of the LB coaches leave? Or does Raymond take over safeties so we now we have the room for 2 coaches to be added?

I am super curious how that gets handled, along with our WR/TE coaches leaving and who gets hired there.

Ideally, I think Raymond should take safeties and our DC strictly be a DC.
Then we hire somebody like Jeff Scott who can be co-OC/WR coach. Then hire a TE coach to be TE/ST coach.
I believe the numbers add up in that scenario
