Robertson is .458. Doing a great job getting on base. On base 11 times in first 5 games is pretty good.

The pitchers have watches. Well, they’re available anyway. Some pitchers wear them. So no, not necessarily.

The glaring thing last night that stood out was certainly our relief pitching. I got the impression baserunning was maybe being highlighted as connected to our loss. I’d have to go back and look but the only thing that stood out last night was lack of late pitching.

Errors and passed ball didn't stand out to you? Nobody was happy with the late pitching, but 3 unearned in a one run game sure stands out to me.....and Sully based on his post game comments

Some for sure but mainly saw pitchers that couldn’t get guys out. Looked like how Purnell finished last season.

You seem to want to put the loss on Purnell.
He put in a solid 8th having inherited a runner from Arroyo and gave up 2 earned runs in the 9th. Not what u want, but the score was 8-4 when he exited. The error in right was big. In reality Jameson was worse and Ursiti wasn't impressive either. Total bullpen fail IMO.

If the defense showed up tho like a top 10 team expects, Gators win.

As I’ve said more than once, big thing that stood out was relief pitching. That’s glaring when you give up what we did that late. Don’t care how it happened. Bottom line we couldn’t get them out.

Difference this year is that Sully will have plenty of other arms to turn to. He won’t be real patient.

On Purnell- since late last year he’s not fooled any. Don’t be fooled by era. He let inherited runners ( pretty important) score too much late last year. Jemeson and Ursitti struggled too. It’s just that they did not start last year on fire and then see things change like Purnell did.

quitter! lol. I hope the kid gets better and better(I am sure he will), just don't think he was ready for the lead off role yet. Just like little Fabian did well at beginning of last season, he got over powered when we got to SEC play.

Out of curiosity I looked at the last month of the season.....Purnell had 10 appearances.
In 8 of the 10 he had no earned runs charged to him. He got dinged vs Tennessee in an extended outing, and vs Central Michigan he gave up a walk and a single....both scored with Nesbitt on the mound. His ERA was actually all the way down to 2.06 before those last 2 postseason outings bumped it all the way to 2.8
As for allowing inherited runners to score, that happened 3 times in that span. One of those was a bunt single that got a run in. Not phenomenal, but certainly not problematic either.
Nobody is ready to call him Mariano Rivera, but there seems to be some skewed thinking re a pretty solid frehman year. He might have run out of some gas after 30 appearances but he was a valuable option till the end.

A lot more Purnell haters on this forum than Abner haters for whatever reason. Neither are particularly warranted in my opinion, but I know who gives me more anxiety in his appearances and it ain’t Blake.

Rivera’s inside out approach is awesome.
