Agree, but the staff not really figuring out how to get the team ready to play at the tip for the vast majority of games this year is a concern. As is the way players have been benched or given opportunities all year (see Reeves, Lane, and Felder). Just a bumpy first year across the board, hopefully the lessons learned propel the staff next year to success.

Good effort tonight. I like that more guys are getting minutes. There's some hope for next year

It is his second game with good minutes against Arkansas and Kentucky. He has improved since the start of the year. He just needs to learn to keep his feet moving as much as possible. He moves around outside setting screens and passes better than most of the players out front. New to Div.1 basketball, and he shoots it better than a lot of guys on the team. The more he plays and practices now, we will start seeing improvement in moving his feet and offense. I hope they can find him a close to the rim shot, maybe a short jump hook or something and once in a while when he is open for a clean 3 pointer, he will drain it. Remember just a freshman that hasn’t even played forty minutes of ball. Show them Alek!

Great fight but still no wins. Have to win 2 out of the last 3 to go to the NIT

Actually I do have one complaint.

That Florida fan who grabbed the opposing player during the game.....what a dumb ass.....

I missed the game. Good to see Lane get some PT, finally.

He has another year of eligibility and he’s probably making a couple of million this season. Why wouldn’t he come back?

I’m hearing he will not be returning. With Bradshaw, Ugonna, Collins, Ware not sure where he fits in there. In this day and age I guess we will just see. Maybe we have players transfer and he stays.

My take? The game was decent because we hit shots we haven't in other games. It was sort of crazy how we looked unmotivated on defense (and even rebounding) at times and quite capable other times. Methinks the guys are becoming mentally worn down. To me, the difference was that Kentucky was shooting the ball good enough to win against a very limited team. What seemed to keep it close was their propensity to take time off on defense (and miss some shots they were making with regularity early). It would have been a major brain fart for them to have lost that game.

As for the numbers (and the timing) of who played, it appears as if Golden has decided to mail it in for the remainder of the season (or just didn't worry about winning this game). It didn't feel like desperation as much as maybe an audition for everyone to take the time to go out and play to figure out who wants to come back next year. Besides the graduating guys, it feels like we are going to lose maybe 3 or 4 more. I am not sure what message he is sending for the future. Maybe "I let you try to do it your way, if you are coming back then you HAVE to do it my way", but I am not sure.

I agree with much of what you posted, however do not share your opinion about Golden " mailing it in"...I think he is a competitor and was dealt a blow with the injury to CC...only the second game without him , so he is having to play others and try different things without his star

No, CTG not "mailing it in." That's just a dumb comment and has no place on this board. If I thought he was mailing it in I'd want him fired immediately. Is that what you are saying? Fire the coach?

What I am implying is that he was doing what he wanted all season and how he played players. Suddenly, he has gotten "quality" minutes out of two players who haven't come close to sniffing the floor (and then add in Aberdeen), even though they could have had roles against certain teams and situations. As I stated, perhaps it was only for this game - he decided it was going to be a loss and so why worry so much? - or we are coming down the stretch and all he has tried has had little success outside of CC and a player or two who shoots well enough in some games. And if his goals are now non-existent, time to plan for next season.

If this was always about earning your minutes in practice and players sitting was evidence, he changed his tactics this game. Or maybe they finally got it. So, Lane got it and Fudge is still a free spirit? And the lack of Felder is_____? This place in the season?
