Now Keary Colbert leaving for the NFL. Roster turnover and coaching staff turnover. Gotta find out who is willing to buy in and who’s not, coaches included.
Show me where CBN said Toney wasn’t the right guy. Other than 100% pure speculation, you have no idea for what reason Toney left.
I don’t get this whole “bargain basement” schtick — people continuing to complain that UF won’t spend money on the football program. Look at what’s been spent on facilities recently. Late in coming yes, but there’s nothing “bargain basement” about what they finally did. Billy is paid very well for a rising star in his first P5 gig. So are his assistant coaches. Look at the size of the staff Napier has. There’s serious money being spent on football at UF. Smart was unproven as a head coach when Georgia hired him. That worked out pretty well for them — why can’t it work for us? Just got to identify the right up & comer. Napier was actually more ‘proven’ than Smart was when he was hired. At least he’d been a HC and even won a championship. Hindsight is 20/20 but we’d have been screaming bloody murder if SS had hired dancing Brian. Everybody wanted Chip and he bombed out of the gate. We don’t know squat when it comes to evaluating coaches — even less about the personality mixes in a complex staff. Enough of this “bargain basement “ BS. Napier and Stricklin have a plan. The new president is apparently on board with ~$250M in upgrades to The Swamp. What in hell else do you want out of our organization?? The wins will come if we just support our coaches, players, and AD. Go Gators
I'm not comparing him to Meyer, I'm simply pointing out the flaw in your logic. What were Dan Lanning's accomplishments before he was the DC at Georgia?
He’s probably a good member of our staff, the issue is whether he’s in a position he’s just not ready for. Good at being a position coach and good at scheming a defense pre-game and in-game are VERY different things. I hope he’s great. I just don’t really believe in hiring young coordinators on potential in college football, especially on defense. Just get the best available, if he leaves hire best available again. That’s better than hiring boom or bust coordinators, they suck we fire them, they’re good they leave for the NFL or a head coaching gig. I’m glad Toney’s gone and I think that was the best move for both us and Toney, but I would’ve liked a more proven replacement.
Now it’s 3 leaving, they’re all going to the league, interesting. Gators assistant Keary Colbert joining Denver Broncos staff
I doubt it was part of the master plan to lose a large part of the staff. It’s obviously not a surprise either.
Show me where I said you said Toney sucked. It's an assumption that CBN is saying Toney wasn't the right guy. It could possibly be an opportunity to get to the NFL opened up and he took it. Some guys prefer that, especially with today's recruiting stresses. That of course is an assumption as well. We'll never know. Sorry you can't grasp that.
I see both sides but I usually am a wait and see guy. Napier decisions and his career. I’d like to think our coach knows more and better than we do.
I don't see that. I don't see too many people crying over Toney leaving. Mostly, the are perplexed to see that his replacement is even greener.
Figured someone would write this before long. Like it or not this is the prevailing perception out there now. Only one way to change it, win. Hayes: What in the world is Billy Napier doing?
Matt Hayes has a hard on for any anti UF slant. However, some questions exist. 2023 will be interesting.
Total hatchet job. only read if you want to get angry with Hayes Saban lost 3 coaches including OC and DC.
