Up here in NC there are home school leagues and ways that homeschoolers can play on public school teams. (Taking one class for instance) the systems work together. And homeschool teams play against public schools as well.(Some really good homeschool programs here athletically).

The difference here is a public or charter school kid can play homeschool sports if the charter or PS school has no team in that sport.

So here the system works both ways. PS kids can play homeschool sports and homeschool kids can play PS sports under certain circumstances

I think that if a kid attends a voucher school they should be charged a fee to play public school sports to reimburse the state. But to deny them an opportunity to play period seems unfair to the kid.

just like DT, he takes it personally when someone tells him no and then tries to use the power of the office to punish those who dare to say the no word.

    You've got my vote.

I would be happy for private school kids to have the same access as homeschool kids, as long as their school doesn't accept vouchers. And if their school does accept vouchers, they should pay an amount equal to what the public school gets for one period of one kid for each activity they are involved in.

Imagine the SOB as President. But he's against abortion, wokeness and blacks, so nothing else matters to many (but hopefully not most).

The one thing that I am encouraged by is the fact that many of the northern swing states- Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, etc. — play heavy emphasis on education. I think DeSantis’ attack on the educational system will not play well there, particularly in the primaries when the issue will be fully vetted and discussed in the debates.

Virginia is one of the best states for education, and their GOP still fell for the anti-CRT quackery in their last gubernatorial election, enough to actually elect a Republican Governor who made that his top issue (so the message must have even swayed independents). Of course that was 2 years ago, you’d think moderates would start getting fed up with culture war nonsense - particularly like in FL where actual nonsensical laws get put in place, but that pushback remains to be seen.

Yes. We're talking about kids playing sports. We should always err on the side of finding a fair way for kids to participate.

People aren't going to like to hear this, but I think our legislative term limits play a big role in this.

Ron DeSantis' use of government power to implement agenda worries some conservatives | CNN Politics

Among GOP donors, leading conservative voices and even some supporters, there is a growing concern that DeSantis has overstepped in his fight against “wokeness” as he seeks to shore up conservative support ahead of a highly anticipated 2024 campaign for president. Several potential rivals for the GOP nomination have seized on DeSantis’ brash approach and top-heavy governing style to draw sharp contrasts with the popular Republican.

As Florida state lawmakers met earlier this month to hand DeSantis new authority over Disney World – punishment for the company’s opposition to a measure restricting certain classroom instruction about sexual orientation and gender identity – Republican Gov. Chris Sununu of New Hampshire took a shot at the power grab. “I’m a principled free-market conservative,” said Sununu, who is also weighing a bid for president. “For others out there that think that the government should be penalizing your business because they disagree with you politically, that isn’t very conservative.”

The Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, a right-of-center First Amendment group that argued for White nationalist Richard Spencer’s right to speak on a Florida campus, has joined DeSantis in opposing diversity, equity, and inclusion, or DEI, programs. Nevertheless, the group has repeatedly criticized Florida’s heavy-handed approach to forcing conservative beliefs on universities and is suing the state over the Stop WOKE Act, a DeSantis-backed measure that legislated how professors teach certain topics.
    ......................
Frayda Levin, a member of the Club for Growth’s board of directors, said there is great interest in DeSantis but she is increasingly concerned that he has become “too heavy-handed” in his pursuit of hot-button social issues. DeSantis is one of six Republicans invited to a Club for Growth donor summit in Florida as the conservative organization distances itself further from Trump. Former Vice President Mike Pence, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley are also invited. “I’m a genuine libertarian; I’m kind of a live-and-let-live kind of girl,” Levin told CNN. She said she has no problem with candidates espousing strongly held personal beliefs on social issues but said she objects to DeSantis “putting the power of his state behind his socially conservative views.”

So now DuhSantis says Russia is a 3rd rate military power. He should have sent the President a bouquet of roses since it was Biden’s efforts that helped do that. The world now appreciates the United States.
Ron DeSantis calls Russia's military "third rate," no threat to NATO

In DuhSantis same speech he, along with other MAGA insurrectionists, were saying Biden is ignoring the threats here at home. Don’t worry Governor, the President along with the freedom-loving American people will get to you and the other threats soon enough.

There's a difference between voting to convict a (former) President and bending over to give him whatever he wants. Say what you will about the Republicans in Congress, but they were far less inclined to hand Trump whatever he wanted than our Legislature is with DeSantis. The legislators don't care about ceding power because term limits mean they have no future to protect and lack the institutional expertise to recognize what they're giving away.

After seeing the poor performance and maintenance of Russian equipment in Ukraine I’m having doubts Russian nukes would even leave the ground. But in answer to your question I’m sure he knows but doesn’t care.
