In those 2 games, I'd also expect us to see Slater, Abner, Arroyo, and maybe more Jameson. Possible Finnvold too. In Tampa, likely Jac C at first base and Cade Kurland at 2B, local boys. Some states thru 4 games, Wyatt 3 of 12 for .250. Halter 0-8. Pitchers have walked and HB on a 3.6 avg per 9 innings.
All those are good possibilities we will see pitch. Nesbitt, Clemente, Hartzog, Ursitti will all be good to see for an inning each if we get a big lead. Neely needed more than the 1 inning he got over the weekend. He might start Wednesday or will need an appearance in one of these two games. I learned my lesson about implying Mr. Langford is in a slump for his numbers. So let's expect a big week from him now that you mention it.
Good weekend, no doubt but I would not jump to conclusions on our hitting. CSU's only quality pitcher Truitt- looked pretty good vs Gators yesterday-- he was victimized by very poor fielding. The first two runs scored were unearned after a ball hit right at the RF that would have been third out was dropped- Evans followed with two-run double but Truitt should have been in the dugout. Similarly, Heyman's "triple" in the second was a very badly misplayed ball that should have been caught and there were other misplays that prolonged at-bats for the Gators. Truitt pitched 6 innings and allowed only 5 hits (two of those "questionable") with only one earned run-- also questionable as it was the Heyman misplayed triple that knocked in the third run. Halter again, the collar and I can't remember last time he hit safely in the Spring- granted his fielding was outstanding. Hoping for better tests in the coming games.
Agree on the guys you mentioned. All 4 of them need innings. I’d like to see Neely start the second game and then go by committee.
Truitt was solid. If they play behind him even a little bit he wins 8-9 this year. In conference he could be one of the league’s better pitchers.
As I read this, all I see is "Heyman's 'triple'" and that's good enough for me! Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
Good to see Cade Fisher get a start early in the season. I liked his outings in the scrimmages and he had a clean inning on Saturday. Ditto for Tejeda-- hoping he gets the start tomorrow. Both have great potential. Tejeda throws an easy 94-95 mph with nice breaking ball; Fisher not as fast but with great movement for a young player. Tejeda 6'8" 215 and Fisher 6'4" 215. Both will fill out and get stronger. Look forward to following their progress.
Well, an Ocala boy is on the field at the start of tonight game. USF's pitcher was born here. Jack Cebert - Baseball - USF Athletics
