I have to think Sully has Cags on a slightly less pitch count. I'm thinking if Cags goes 3 to 5 innings that's plenty. If he completes 5 that's a win win and advances his return to form progression. CSU might try to run his pitch count up to get to the bullpen earlier since this is Cags first start in almost 2 years and they are pitching their Friday night guy.
Probably not the right place for this, but it boggles the mind why UF hasn't added parking near the stadium and used one of the IFAS fields. I'd even take the small field between Steinmetz Hall and the baseball stadium. Even though its small it would connect with the current parking lot. I feel the area next to the first base line at the corner of Baseball Drive would be perfect and allow easy exit away from the rest of the traffic. With all the other IFAS farm research land across Florida, you would think a few acres on campus wouldn't be so difficult. Hopefully its not going to take someone getting hit by a car crossing Hull Road for the university to wake up and add parking. The T-Mobile tourney combined with opening weekend of baseball really stretches the limits for the Hull road area. Maybe it would be a good idea if the pregame music at KSP also included the song "You pay paradise and put up a parking lot".
UF apparently thinks the three connected lots NE of the stadium is big, close, and convenient enough. Just go around the stadium to 90° away from where you want to go, another whole stadium length to get to the intersection NE of the ballpark, try to navigate pavement/grass/more pavement/more grass/pavement with a nearly hidden curb (which I'm amazed hasn't claimed at least half a dozen ankles), across the street to where there is no sidewalk, navigate around some more uneven ground (where the only light at night is a blinking cop car) with a pedestrian bottleneck around the tree, then walk another block on slippery/wet leaves with cars whooshing past by three feet, navigate another span of uneven pavement/grass/pavement, dodge some traffic in another lot or two, and then finally get to your car. Or wait for the ride service. Oof. It's not bad arriving, but it's clear inadequate thought was given to what it would look like with a 6000+ crowd (including children, elderly, and folks who don't come to games/campus often) trying to disperse in the evening. The spaces towards the Harn museum are a bit better: dodge traffic in closest lot, another pedestrian path discontinuity, and then a longer (but less dangerous for impact or rolled ankle injuries). However, it's almost impossible to turn left to go West on Hull from there. Since I live NW, it's maybe even worse on my end.
Yep I assume he definitely wants Neely and/or Purnell to get some work. I wanna believe Coppola will be available around SEC play, every inning is valuable. Gotta remember how tough it is at times to find Sunday relief pitching especially if your main relievers have to help out if a Friday/Satuday starter doesn't have his stuff. I like how Sully emphasizes the pitchers themselves decide who ultimately gets the ball not him.
Neely, Purnell, and 1 other throwing today after 3-4th inning. Agree on pitch count, guessing 45-55 but could be way off.
shane— I assume you’re referring to Cags on the pitch count. I agree, monitor the pitch count, but clean mechanics are a must. Consistency is the key.

Love watching JCag do his thing. Credit to Sully has some thought JCag would not be pitching until three or four weeks from now. A lot of us felt very confident and optimistic knowing the way Sully does things that he would be ready. The kid looks more than ready
Yes I am and I felt he would be pitching the very first weekend of the year. First inning looked more than clean and look like he was not pressing at all
