Yeah I'm glad more people are starting to realize this, winning a Super Bowl without a true #1 option at WR (although he was throwing to Travis Kelce, who might end up being the GOAT TE) will make the doubters realize just how special Mahomes is.

    1. That's kind of the thing about gadget players/punt returners. There are a lot of games where they don't do much. Toney had 9 yards receiving and 12 yards of punt return against the Bengals in the AFCCG. But then he did what he did in the Super Bowl.
    2. It's more important for great QB's to have a diverse and deep set of pass catchers than one dominant receiver. What makes great QB's great is the ability to see the field, evaluate mismatches, and not lock onto one player.

Agree with the thrust of what you said, however IMO Toney won't be a gadget player next year. The Chiefs handled Toney perfectly this year, and I believe they know they have a great talent on their hands. They saw how the Giants mis-handled him and they decided to go really slow with him. If it didn't work out he would not have remained on the team.

What Mahomes has and Brady had are very special players at tight end. If the Falcons can find the right QB (and coach) to pair with Pitts they could be dangerous.

Brady also made Wes Welker and that other guy the last several years at NE look all pro.

Toney was hurt early in the AFCCG. He had to leave the game. This is why the difference in stats.

This was what I was thinking also. You take 6 point’s guaranteed off the board. Add to the fact that everyone was slipping and sliding on that grass all day. They had a clip where a kicker slipped a bit on an extra point earlier.
Maybe kneeling there was the right decision, but it sure wasn’t a slam dunk.

The Eagles were the ones having so many issues with their cleats. The Chiefs really weren’t having that problem.

Nothing is a slam dunk but I like not leaving it up to the other team when both teams already pu 35 up.

To be fair Toney couldn’t stay healthy and the word was he didn’t want to be there.

And Cam was more concerned with his big contract than he was about winning. Lost all respect for the guy!

The great players that have the talent and become champions are usually the guy to take a pay cut to keep the other players surrounding them on the team. When your quarterback takes 50 million and let his number one receiver go to the Raiders, you know he has no chance of ever winning.

Tom Brady took pay cuts and it definitely paid off for him. I can't say I blame the players who choose not to take pay cuts, though. Great players should always get paid as much as they can while they can, especially in a profession that has such a short shelf life.

Unless you're the great Pat Mahomes, who didn't take a paycut (signed a $450 million contract), let his number one receiver go to the Dolphins and still found a way to win a Super Bowl.

Cam definitely had his flaws. During his MVP season he willed his team to within one game of the Super Bowl, so he definitely wanted to win, his body just fell apart afterwards. It's crazy how different the narrative on his career would've been had he been able to win that game.

Mahomes will more than likely have to give some back at some point unless he thinks he can do it alone. He has enough cash now to not worry about money as much. He has plenty of outside money coming in too. All the guys have to take a little less to keep a team together. Young guys do really have to take tgat first big contract but once you have 100 mil in the bank, think about keeping your teammates.

Toney has been injury prone thus far in the NFL. The knock on him with the Giants is that he did not put in the work in the off season and arrived out of shape and with lot of hamstring pulls

Toney had some of the same injury problems once he arrived in Kansas City. I have to wonder if he could ever thrive in a cold weather city.

During that Super Bowl game he fumbled. Watching the replay afterwards how he purposely didn't go for the ball as it appeared he was concerned he would get hurt said a lot to me.
Could be an inaccurate reading on my part but I don't think Tim Tebow would have ever pulled up after a fumble to make sure he would never get hurt.
That is where I'm coming from!
