Meh. Everyone “knows” Fox is junk science but followers chose to believe it anyway. They are looking for a message not truth or accuracy. Fox is not news and they aren’t interested in the low demand for news.

We can speculate on what factors truly drive media all we want. Except for Fox. We now know with 100% certainty that they chose pushing a lie over truth, and over the good of the Country, because of greed. Tucker got the fact checker silenced because the Fox stock price dropped. Decisions were made to push the lie so they didn’t lose advertising dollars to OAN. THAT IS FACT. The documents support this.

We are just speculating on what drives other media.

I agree. I think the argument that Twitter is a public square is bullshit. Twitter was doing its best (which perhaps arguably wasn’t very good, but nobody has demonstrated better) to moderate content, and obviously in doing so shows some biases. Fox News openly coordinated messaging with the Trump White House, and now has been proven to propagate what are known lies that has lead to all kinds of negative effects.

    Elements 3 AND 4 are non-starters.

Celebrate the civil action. Celebrate a monster verdict.

    Invoking treason is simply counterproductive.

You'll soon enough find out how the cheapening of "insurrection" over J6 and of impeachment of Trump will beget reciprocity. With interest.

In politics, no accounts go unreckoned.

I don’t want to defend Fox News on grounds of ethics or quality, but I think @92gator gets at the key issue: what powers would we be willing to grant DeSantis? I am definitely hesitant to allow him to decide if a news organization has betrayed our nation.

Of course I am sympathetic to your concern that knowingly pushing the narrative that an election was stolen is a true problem for the USA as an entity. However, I also think that investigating election integrity and interviewing election skeptics are proper actions of a free press, and the exact demarcation between these two actions is blurry.

This is a really tough issue.

#3 is far from a non-starter, they were actively and knowingly peddling lies to undermine a U.S. election. Can’t get any more direct betrayal than this.

#4 I would grant you, only because i don’t think Fox News writ large was in cahoots with a foreign power. Certain individuals I’m not so sure about, but in terms of Fox as a corp entity their internal documents paint a picture of institutional greed and concern for ratings/stock prices driving the decision process to “betray” the U.S. at the expense of any consideration for truth.

#3 means you think Fox/ anyone challenging the election did so bc they thougjt Trump winning would be bad for the USA (like destructive bad) and furthered with intent of benefiting an enemy of the US (#4).

I could state a more cogent case about Biden, the DNC, Twitterr, FB, FBI, etc, fitting the bill by doing China's bidding.

Worth noting: Fox's claims about *knowing* Powell et. al. Were FOS, amounts to their (of the individuals espousing them, that is...(opinion about the substance of the claims. Powell, Guiliani, AND the POTUS among others, actually made the claims, and pursued them in Courts.

That might not carry the day vs Dominion/defamation but it all but exonetates completely of any criminal culpability.

.. .also note, fox was facilitating public discourse. Ppl were free to afford the info weight, or dismiss it.

FB n Twitter were actively stifling it, by keeping info out of the public discourse.

...at the behest of the FBI, etc et al.

That last part is disturbing to the core, bc presidents come and go...FBI been here for 80 years, and wilk be around for decades to come.

Or not. Definitely worth revisiting, in light of their grotesque abuse of authority.

At least a thorough cleaning house is in order.

Note Laura’s response: no concern for the country, just Fox and Trump.

This is great. So it comes out Fox News deliberately lied to their viewers and maga now all of a sudden flip-flops and bends over backwards defending this travesty for a news outlet and it’s no big deal because it’s the viewers fault for believing it. Even though they are the ones who believed it.

Mr. 2000 mules thinks by peddling complete bullshit, they were “facilitating the public discourse”. That’s quite a spin.

Stockholm syndrome, he’s got it bad.

    I thought i
They probably won’t touch the $1.6B for economic damages but the punitive damages will offset that.

Don't disagree with that, just hoping for huge numbers...both against the corporation and the individual defendants, as well.

    Reading comp much *counselor*?

....or is it that you don't think treason is a crime?

Fyi: CCH invoked treason into the convo, then doubled down when i politely suggested it was a bit much.

Stick with small potatoes misdemeanors...i bet you kick serious ass in MM court.
