You can come on me all you want
But you’re the one making excuses for slavery in Africa. Not me. Slavery of any kind is reprehensible. Full stop. But go ahead.. elk us how it wasn’t as bad..

    Who enslaved whom in perpetuity?

Because slavery has been extinguished in Europe and the US.

Here's where your 'land of the free' stands today vis a vis slavery:

Yes, that's what I was saying, slavery is fine and good when its DIY war captivity that ends when you are freed or die. The only bad kind of slavery is the global chattel trade induced by massive demand for agricultural labor in the new world. Jesus man, stop inventing things to get mad about, you generally seem smarter than this kind of stuff.

This is of course false (at least in the US), you should read the text of the 13th amendment. And if you consider human trafficking a form of slavery, it really is false.

Not mad at all. Just surprised you are excusing a form of slavery vs another form of slavery.
Slavery in Africa happened. Tribes conquered and took slaves from other tribes. It was big business. Reprehensible.
Does that make the slavery in the us any better? No. Of course not. Does the US slavery make the slavery in Africa any better.. no of course not.

Ok. If forced labor is slavery, then it definitely exists in Europe and America too!

Cool. Congratulations on taking the bold position that slavery is bad. But dont invent things I didnt say, that's beneath you. Drawing factual distinctions and talking about scale isnt 'excusing' anything.

This is a sad statement. In the US I would the U.S. prison system
Is the closest thing we have to forced labor as for as sanctioned by the government.
But we know we have sex trafficking crossing back and forth across our borders. We know he child labor laws in China, Middle East, South America etc.. are basically non existent
Yet we (all of us, right and left) turn a blind eye o Apple, Nike, Coke, etc…

Ok in the future we can just not discuss anything, since you cant deal with facts unless someone gives you a disclaimer, trigger warning or a sanctimonious sermon about how "its all bad though" so as to avoid your finger wagging.

We fought a war with England to free ourselves. We called ourselves the land of the free and home of the brave.

if we were the land of the free back then why were human beings enslaved? I say human beings because it doesn’t matter your color.

What we did to blacks was wrong. Plain wrong and there’s no justification for it other than plantation owners were looking for free labor.

The line that this country was build on the backs of slaves has zero importance to me wether true or not.

the issue is it was just plain wrong to enslave another human being.

You neglected to address the "...under threat of penalty" element.

We have the biggest prison population in the world, per capita and by raw numbers, and a carceral system that operates for profit in many cases, seems like kind of a big deal, not just a tiny thing. But let me state for the record that "its all bad mmkay" so I dont get accused of 'excusing' things!

*I could point out you are "making excuses" by drawing distinctions like this, since all slavery is bad right and must be explicitly condemned on equal terms I guess, but lets not further derail this thing.

A penalty could just be a beating from the guy that is pimping you out or knows he can turn you in to immigration if you get out of line. Seems like that happens in the good old US of A too.

If an illegal is turned in to immigration, and is penalized at all, it would be for immigration status not for failing to work...

...and kicking someone's ass for not working is a crime, not a penalty.

    Try again.
