Preseason SP+ rankings for all 133 FBS teams These usually turn out to be a pretty good measure. 1 UGA 2 OSU 3 Michigan (maybe not) 4 Bama 5 Penn St 6 Tennessee 7 LSU 8 Oregon 9 Texas 10 USC 11 F$U 13 Utah 17 A&M 18 Ole Miss 20 UF 23 Miss St 24 UK 26 Auburn 29 Arkansas 32 Missouri 33 South Carolina 39 UCF 42 Miami 71 Vandy 106 Charlotte NR McNeese St
Thanks! Here's hoping they're seriously underestimating #20 . . . Pretty sure they're overestimating #6 and #11, although #11 only has to play one, maybe two, challenging games before "#20" lays the wood to them in The Swamp. #42 is funny! LOL!
That's actually much better than I'd expect for us. I'd love to be a top 25 program this year. And, sadly, FSU is prob about right. They've got good returning players in key positions. And play 2-3 "real" games per year. That's a recipe for success. In the SEC, a GREAT team usually loses 1-2 games (Bama). GOOD teams can easily lose 5-6. Going undefeated requires some luck and an NFL roster (Georgia).
Top 25!? NATTY! Let's go baby! I'm sensing something in the force. It's that time of the year when we plant the seeds of outrageous expectations and carry that quasi-delusional positivity onward and upward... don't let the universe feel doubt. Take no prisoners...Ahhhh. Huge turnaround year... Go Gators.
FSU plays only a few games. It’s bs they can win the easy ones and get respect. We could have beat them last year and we were seriously flawed.
After the last two seasons I’d be hard pressed to put us in the top 40. Need to see results on the field before ranking us with the better teams. Tempering expectations for next season.
We beat Utah, almost Tenn, almost Lsu, almost fsu, smoked usce. We had some working parts against decent teams. Just too many holes and AR wasn’t really the guy to carry a team to victory consistently. We could surprise a bit this year. 20 is kinda middle of what we may do.
I watched a sports show that had some of our players on. They interviewed Etienne, Pearsall, Big D. Watson. They all were pretty stoked on the new portal guys. Everyone is gelling nicely. Unselfish team chemistry, for sure. Too early to tell, but sure seems like the lines will be stout. Running game. Some consistency at QB and suddenly things look good. If we can win the ones we should and get a couple close ones to fall for the good guys... Go Gators.
Agree but almost won doesn’t show up in the win column. We also lost to Vandy for perspective and then saw what we looked like without AR for the bowl game. Hard to really guess where we will be until we see a QB in live action.
We don’t expect the possibility in of a heisman qb next year which AR never became. The entire team will have to be better just to get to 6-6 next year. Had AR been a heisman candidate, we probably win a few more games. Qb will have to be better than what we are expecting right now to get to 8+ wins as it stands.
100% agree and I think we win like 6-8 games and look more functional. This circles back to why I said top 20 ranking was too generous. A 6,7, or 8 win Gators team is not ending up ranked top 20. Last season USCe squeaked in at 8-5 #23 and Texas 8-5 #25. If we win 8 I'd consider that an incredible step in the right direction.
It will all depend on upon Mertz and improvements on defense. The run game will be fine. A decent passing game and slightly improved defense should win us 8 games. I fear though, only a slightly improved passing game and similar defense to last season. The rebuild will take time. Top 20 seems awful generous.
How in the world is UF ranked 20? Not even the measures used to come up with rankings would lead anyone to believe that UF is a top 25 team heading into 23 season.
IDK . . . We have some track stars coming in at WR. They will be able to open the field which will help the running game (that doesn't need much help) or vice versa. Defense will be young but Coach Napier players. Maybe early growing pains but I'm more confident we'll see improvement on defense. Just my 2-cents though.
