Sorry folks.. my broadcast cut out, so missed the beginning. Here is whit I got….
    Typing as I listen….

We let them operate too comfortably out there.

They are a team good offensively.. and have been all year. A big key was defending the 3-point line land we were awful. There were other things I could point to, missed free throws, but that was main thing. We just didn’t do it.

We need better energy… we looked fatigued and not emotional enough when there is great opportunity to build on our season. Got to get our legs back and go at it harder.

As big as the TN win was, this loss was bigger. :( Kugel . . . ahem . . .

team did seemed fatigued. Maybe it was the long start to the game with no stoppage. Maybe playing a tough 4 game stretch with 3 on the road wore them down. Maybe it was playing starters down 30 with zero chance to win until a few minutes left at Bama when you could have rested some guys. Maybe call a timeout now and then. Or maybe just all of them combined.

Good observation. I don't know if that had an impact on this game, but it seemed foolish to not rest the starters more.

It would be a real shame if this team started losing games due to fatigue… Because It’s depth should be a strength. I haven’t been thrilled as to how we have used, or not used tbat depth… and some of the personnel decisions over the year. But, it is what it is. This was a really damaging loss.

This team is what it is, a terrible shooting team. I keep hearing how they have to make shots and it will come, but obviously that is wishful thinking. At this point it is quite obvious that this roster is not very well put together. This is a big disappointment in the portal era. I was at the game and with a sold out Odome, there was a ton of energy for the team to draw from, but this squad could not draw the energy needed to sprint to the finish line. Instead we got over six minutes of no scoring at the end of the second half, and a total lack of focus on the free throw line.

The part that frustrates me is we see the same stuff game after game after game...nothing changes. It's like deja vu. If we can't hit 3's, stop shooting 3's. He doesn't have any answers during the game...wash, rinse and repeat.

If the players are tired, put the other guys in. He's got at least 2-3 players just sitting on the bench wasting this year away. I'm sure we'll have some transfers out. Maybe I'm jumping the gun but I don't think he'll be here very long...maybe 3-4 years max.

This is why you play everyone lots of minutes and no one gets overloaded. Let them screw up and work it out. Leaving capable kids sitting on the bench all game has never made any sense to me.

I don’t care if the offense suffers, they should all be fresh and play the best defense in the country, which should lead to some transition buckets. How long has it been around here since we have regularly been a team to get out on the break?

This was just a disastrous loss being a “must win” home game after that brutal stretch of schedule. No way to put lipstick on this pig. You can slip up to mediocre teams on the road. You just can’t at home. The chances of an at-large bid are now effectively zero. Just can’t shoot, same old story. After Bama destroying us, really seemed the defense let down as well. I knew it was an uphill climb to get 20 wins, but the team were really playing well before that schedule wall. Thought we’d have a pretty strong finish. Now it’s hard to see…even NIT no longer seems a safe bet (which was the thinking when we were 7-7).

It's a badly built team. We have a tremendous player with Castleton in the paint but have a bunch of inconsistency with what surrounds him.

It was a terrible terrible loss.
But yes I’m sure the team is dead tired.
Trip to Kansas, then Kentucky then Bama.
Long intense road trips vs tough teams.
Then just 2 days between Bama and Vandy games.
This was a trap game but we took it lightly certainly.

It is the team we have. No real shooters or slashing scorers. Unfortunately teams can Drive or get open looks on us. Team definitely looked tired, especially in the 2nd.
Had really hope for a couple good pick ups, but……. Hopefully we do better, is the school mantra lately.

Yep, guard play all over the place. I wouldn’t say “badly built” just a couple things came up short.

One of my pre-season worries was how “small” we were at the 4
(In essence this team doesn’t even have a power forward, as Fudge is more of an 3). That concern very much panned out with our difficulties rebounding. Not much outlet to take pressure off Castleton like if we had a legit 4 to help rebound.

We are running 4 guard lineups, but unfortunately not getting much out of it. We give up the rebounding but aren’t getting the shooting/scoring upside (not on a consistent basis). We aren’t winning matchups. Unfortunately in this one, even Castleton got schooled, and with this roster that’s one matchup it’s hard to overcome being badly beaten at.

Inconsistent is the definition of the football team offense with Anthony at the helm, it has bled over to the basketball team. Our guards and wings have a hard time finding space to shoot, these guys were stars where they came from, but the makeup of the team is give it to Colin, he miss a number of bunnies and ft’s in the second half himself, I was waiting for him to chuck a rim rattling three that would Come back out to the half court line and their big would catch it and hit another three. team should be locked out of the practice facility at least Sunday and Monday and let them think about what all the pundits will say this week about them! It is not pretty guys!
Watching the Vandies guards shooting wide open threes time and time again showed we didn’t come to play, this was just Vandy. This doesn’t work in the SEC. When our coach doesn’t bench anybody for dum shots or effort they better believe that if Bobby Knight was our coach, half of this team would be in the infirmary!

Just my opinion, but I think it was effort more than fatigue as the latter implies there’s nothing left in the tank. How do you have zero fouls and play terrible defense for 10 minutes straight…to start the game!? That’s not fatigue that’s effort.

The season is now over in terms of the tournament. There really isn't anything left to root for, at least for myself. I know some will negative rate me or say I'm a bad fan for saying this, but this team is painful to watch. I usually watch every game but I was on DVR and fast forwarded the last 9 minutes left because it felt like a loss. They should have expanded the lead up 4 but missed gimmies like this team always does and ft's (possibly because of lack of subs). I've stopped watching this team early in too many games this year.

Other than Kugel, what does this team have going forward. This was inexcusable loss. Maybe if this is a group of Freshman learning, you can watch their development, but this is an older team. Why other guys don't get PT such as Felder is beyond me. He plays the same guys way too many minutes. Fudge is not better than Felder and Lane could provide valuable minutes imo. Just a poor use of the guys on the team and using his depth.

Golden might just be in over his head. The Gators needed more of an established head coach and have no idea why Stricklin rushed this hire. Golden better have a monster off-season or this will be another mediocre at best or possibly a losing team next year. If this continues, this may be a very short tenure for Golden. So he better figure out a way to have a winning team next year because this current product doesn't cut it.

Golden has botched this season in every way possible, constructing a very poor roster and then halving it by never playing more than 6/7 guys. the game management is piss poor, and it's baffling how this team can be consistently bad at both rebounding and shooting - what is Golden even coaching them? other posters have mentioned that poor play should equal a benching, but the coach doesn't even have a grasp on that concept.

Stricklin has to go, Golden is of course toast because he was a very bad hire to begin with - but Stricklin cannot be allowed to choose his replacement. has Stricklin ever hired even ONE successful coach, at all? any sport?
