My Grandkids and Beamer

I hope Beamer stays at South Carolina for his entire career and has success there: Except for one game a year, of course.
He may have a change of heart after a few years. Dynamics and situations change over a period of time. He may get the urge to coach in the NFL, or get tired of the pressure of recruiting, or simply want a change of scenery. If that happens it shouldn’t be taken by Gamecock fans as a slight. It happens. Especially in todays world.

 

I never questioned whether he wanted the job. Don’t all coaches want to win and have you ever heard a coach say “well this isn’t my dream job but let’s go?” No, they always say this is my dream job.

Spurrier proved you could win an ACc conference title at duke, but not a sec title at usc. Maybe Beamer is “different” but so was Spurrier, and all I’m saying is that he is one hell of a coach if he takes usc to a level multiple hall of gamers could not reach. I’ve got no skin in the game so good luck until usc plays the gators, but rationally I think it improbable that he is USCjrs messiah. And him professing that this is his dream job or “interviewing for 5 hours” (wow, what a heavy commitment for a job paying $5m/year?) doesn’t move the needle to me.

So GoCocks, to be clear, I’m not denigrating your team or coach. Just saw a great coach in spurrier top out and not sure I see evidence this guy is gonna do better (and trying hard or “caring” more isn’t evidence to me). You seem a great fan and not over sensitive and I wish your team the best until they meet the gators!

 

I do think everybody deserves some respect until they prove otherwise.

SOS almost won a title there and was at the end of his career. Nil has changed who can recruit a top class now also. If the money to recruit/ buy classes is there, it can happen anywhere now.

I wish the Gators nothing but the best as well. South Carolina will never be a Georgia, Alabama, Clemson or Florida. But they can compete. Can they be a Frank Beamer Virginia Tech? I think so.

The NIL, portal and expanded playoff will benefit South Carolina. Beamer has all the resources and backing from the athletic department. His father coached a program that was historically bad and many thought he would take a better job, but he stayed loyal to Virginia Tech. I think Shane is the same way. JMO

If Lou Holtz and Steve Spurrier believe South Carolina can compete with the big players in college football, then who’s to say they can’t?

His 2024 class as I mentioned is shaping up to be top 10 and he’s just going into his 3rd year.

With that being said he’s still got a lot to prove. He just hired an OC that had been fired several times in the NFL due to poor offenses , of course it was the Jets and Bears. He’s been the TE’s coach at Arkansas and has never called a down of college football. All the recruiting is great, but you need to develop and coach that talent.

Shane Beamer has a lot to prove, but so far he’s exceeding expectations after just his 2nd year. From the OP though you can understand why recruits love him and why he’s been able to land some very good players.
