Strangers entering our country hold what different human tendencies than our very own born on US soil tendencies? Please name how they differ from our car jackers, our rapists, our murderers? Name the difference!!! I am so freaking excited to b see how our moral compass is greater than a family wanting to live better and they do it working harder! Can you say that about our fine young American born folks? No you cant!
So, if the immigrants were in the US LEGALLY, you would agree this was a reprehensible way to treat people?
How do we know you aren't dangerous? "These people" are just us from a different spot on the earth. You think we hold an angelic life here? My guess is they value a good life much better than many Americans so maybe we should swap our bad for them. That's a plan for Desantis!
Come on Davis. I know that. But common sense says there should be safeguards and procedures to protect current citizens. And times sure have changed since those old days.
Why are you defending DeSantis on this? And don't try to say you're not, because that's basically what you're doing. I expect it from a few, but you're better than that.
While my wife may question my judgment from time to time, my profession of many decades made me an excellent, though not infallible, judge of people. To my mind, your posts on this thread are for the most part indefensible, relying on knee-jerk emotion and hyper-partisanship rather than facts. However, I realize that rather than writing this, I might as well have talked to my study wall.
I said he was wrong man. I was speaking about the dramatic OP acting shocked that his tax money paid for something immoral. Certainly you guys arent being this obtuse? Certainly you can see the point I was making?
Let's be clear here, DeSantis's cronies are changing the law to prevent the courts from deciding that, at least on this specific issue.
If you guys want to link me to a post where I defended the act or said DeSantis was right, please do so. The absolute Twister game that some of ya'll play is odd.
Maybe so. What does that have to do with my point that no one should be shocked that tax money funds things we deem immoral? C'mon GL you agreed with me in the SOTU response thread, you can do it twice in one day.
I think it's fair to be shocked by what DeSantis did here. I can't point to any other governor who has done it. Even Abbott, though he's just trying to troll Dems, is doing it from his own state so that you could say there was at least some benefit to his state. There was zero benefit for Florida to pay for immigrants to fly from TX to Martha's Vineyard. It was purely a political stunt to benefit DeSantis's political career, paid for by Florida's tax payers.
I didn't disagree with your point. You're right. That's part of paying taxes. I was disagreeing with the idea that we leave this to the courts. DeSantis had his cronies change the law specifically to protect him from the courts (at least on that one issue).
@flgator2 just a reminder that "come on man" is not exactly a response to my post and in fact will take quite a bit of thought from you to answer the questions with common sense. Go ahead..pick it apart as it could be fun reading your "enlightened" viewpoint which just has to be better than a simple "come on man".
