Hot dogs for tonight. Defrosting a jar of the dog sauce I made a few weeks ago. And just made a bowl of firecracker slaw and put baked beans in the oven. I see a lot of soup & salad meals in my future, for next week. Need to make up for my eating sins this week.
I used to do a lot of work at Eglin mostly mentoring student design projects, but those days are past. It would have been easy-peasy back then. Talking about ol' school baseball I remember talking to a Gainesville old-timer that saw "Jungle" Jim Rivera play for a Gainesille Minor league team G-Men in 1949. Gainesville was in the Florida State League and Class D minors. So many jokes to make here. LOL. He was shocked that I knew who he was, but being a very young White Sox fan back in the day I new exactly who he was.
I remember Jungle Jim--good fielder I believe. Anyway, some years ago WUFT-TV did a documentary about the G-Men. It might be on YouTube
I will check that out. Funny story about WUFT and local documentaries. It was when VHS machines were new and targets of theives. We had borrowed a VHS tape from our local PBS station featuring a friend of ours that was a camellia grower to watch. Anyway we had a break in and our VHS was stolen along with the tape. When the police arrived we were distraught that our tape was stolen. Seemed like they thought it was a sex tape. LOL. Anyway we were able to get a copy from our local PBS station so it was all good.
Last night my wife and I had dinner at a Japanese resteraunt with friends. Today we went to the Vandy basketball game so we ae getting take-out gyros and falafals and stuffed grape leaves.
Our nephew that is retired (27yrs) from the Navy is here tonight. We are grilling boneless ribeyes, with baked potatoes on the grill as well. We will also have a fresh Caesar salad. The back porch is fully stocked and everyone has their own choice of libations. Life is good in Gator Nation!
Will do Baz— We are quite proud of his accomplishments and achievements while in the Navy—he did everything he could on both regular and nuclear subs, he flew every fighter jet and helicopter that they had, and his last deployment he actually ran the nuclear reactor on the USS ENTERPRISE as he had also received his degree in nuclear engineering from the Navy during his tenure. In retired civilian life the Navy has hired him back to teach all of the newbie’s everything that they had taught him.
Making pasta bolognese today. Need to replace the power cord on my Bosch dishwasher. It is a Bosch specific cord and should arrive on Tuesday. A rodent met its maker chewing through the cord. The life you lead when you live in an old wood frame house.
Steak fajitas tonight. It’s been marinating since 7am. Cilantro and lime, black beans & rice on the side. My wife (of course) is …”make me a salad and I’ll pick at the meat” …insert face palm emoji here _x_
