feel good about Gators basketball moving forward? Beyond our record over the last several seasons I'm looking at our recent, and most concering, current recruiting clsss, and they are beyond disturbing. Defenders of all things UF, pump some sunshine into me, please.
Basketball, unlike football, can be transformed very quickly… a single recruiting class and/or portal haul. Golden is an ultra-competitive guy; has made his stamp on the programs defensive identity; is the profile of the young/trendy coach players like; has embraced emerging trends such as NIL and analytics…
Thanks aka, but I'm just not feeling it. Maybe/hopefully I'll learn something over the next couple of seasons.
One year, I wasn't expecting much from a team that lost its top 3 players and was starting 3 seldom used backups, one of them being a turnover machine, for the opening game the next season. But they won back-to-back national championships.
Al Horford isn't walking through that door. Joakim Noah isn't walking through that door. Corey Brewer isn't walking through that door.
Coach needs a little more time SJB. And one never knows who's walking through that door. Yes, the 04s were a special group and I am forever grateful, as a Gator fan, for the back to back experience. Let's see what develops over the next couple of years.
All it takes is one special player or an older group of players to buy in! but it does make you appreciate the fact that Billy D was/is the greatest ball coach ever!! We should win 6 of our next 7 and maybe take down Kentucky at home to go 7 for 7. What scares me is if Castleton wasn't on this team....oh my god....
If Castleton had left, CTG would have brought in another couple of bigs. We would certainly have been in a better position to get Broome. There's no point in playing "what if" games.
bike1014 gives me a "come on, man" for making an honest statement to illustrate that there are always reasons for hope.
I disremember, who was the turn-over machine the year before? they were already ON the team I think Broome coming here was always contingent on CC leaving; one stayed, one didn't come.
Be patient because we need good bigs, two more to the two already coming in and a great shooting Point guard that is quick and a good ball handler. CTG should have this stamped in his brain after the fully loaded tide wiped us out. Their backups were Golden! They wore us down, out rebounded us and out shot us. All their guys had good footwork and can run. Last but not least we need to bring in a wing the size 6’6” or 6’7” who can move his feet and shoot threes. CTG came in as he had very little time to get exactly his needs, this year he has his work cut out for him again. He has a team that is getting better but has an hardass schedule and they are competing. He will in his next two years get some good players and build up some good depth. This program was living on the transfer portal with Mike White and we will have to use it some this year to buy our coach some time to get young players in and develop an SEC competing squad. It will not be easy but he has the energy and competitive nature that will serve the Gators well. Last game hurts me just like you but this schedule has been brutal and it isn’t over. Hopefully we get at least five more wins before the SEC tournament and get at least one victory there. Hopefully that will get us in. No one down the stretch is going to cave for us, we have to earn it! stay positive as we are fighting! there is no quit in these young men! Go Gators!
You don't have to feel good about Gator basketball; it's your choice. Having logical and rational criticisms should be welcome on the board. When the criticisms become nothing more than irrational gloom and doom, rebuttals will come.
Iowa State went 0-18 in the Big 12 like 2 years ago and then last year had a great year and are again having a great year. It can turn on the drop of a hat, but I have been waiting for that hat to drop for awhile.
