Steele has always been a good DC, not great. The one game I remember vividly though is when Clemson played West Virginia in the OB and the Clemson D gave up 70 points. He’s an upgrade over Golding though.

At that time he did not have a dynamic receiving core that he was able to recruit since. So, kudos to him for learning. Overwhelming talent + power run game that works on demand + great D will win championships. A great receiving core is not necessary, but will blow the lid open in games.

He's improved each year. That's what you want. The administration showed patience which paid off for last season. While I probably would have waited another year, it's not a horrible decision on their part. You could certainly argue the figure.

A few million in the grand scheme of things isn’t going to afffect a power five team too much. They aren’t working off a household income.

 

He better find another qb. He should be ok this year but he won’t win with a subpar qb and the way he is recruiting.
