OK then. Only fair to answer your question too: I'm just down the road (like we say up here). I think it's great so many Gators have come out of hiding over the past 30-years or so in East Tennessee. After I got up here in 1990, I was the only one wearing Gator gear but got stopped more and more thereafter with compliments on my shirts or caps. Especially during UcheaT week. I'd always tell folks, "You should get one too!" Many have. Is the quaint little restaurant in the old church still open there? It was a great place . . . and still will be if open. It has been years but now I'll have to go back.
Good for KJ, so glad to see him back in the game. He was an absolute bull against KU; couldn't be stopped. Nearly every drive (cept for the one at the end of regulation) went for a layup or a foul on KU. After watching them go toe-to-toe with KU, it's apparent that they will be a handful for the Gators.
Been in the Johnson City area since 1983. Don’t think the Parsons table restaurant is open anymore. Ate there once about 22 years ago. I wear my Gator gear around here to. I get kidded some. Try to catch a football game once a year. Went to the Missouri game last year. Seen several Fl/UT games.
There is a lot that went into the decision, both for UF and Key. Florida never did clear him medically, but Key did not push that issue after a certain point. I think he recognized a opportunity for change. Remember, veritably all of his teammates had moved on, and there was also a coaching change. He would have been virtually starting over. Combine that, with the allegations… and I think there were some completing reasons to get a new start.
He's playing like the stud he is. K was our best player when he went down, would still be our best player, now he's K States best player. Hurts that he's not with the the Gators. Still, I'm very happy for him and all of us Gator hoop fans.
If KJ doesn’t go down then MW is almost certainly still the Gator coach…..and would have a second elite eight or a final four and we would feel very differently about him.
Interesting. Have a good friend that lives on the top of some mtn about 40 min east of Knox. He married a Vol. They wore their respective school colors for the wedding. (2nd time around).
I wish KJ nothing but the best. If he had stayed and had another cardiac event, we would have had to close down our basketball program.
