We are currently ranked 19th on the 24/7 composite. Where do you think we end up?

I'm surprised aTM quality is so high again this year.

Fun that we edged out Miami on quality, esp given all of their 5 star players.

I'm so impressed with LSU. Our NEED compared favorably with theirs - huge attrition last year AND this year. They signed five more than us, with a higher average player ranking...AND killed it in the portal.

I do like our class quality very much. But I had hoped to add the quality AND numbers that LSU did (I think 37 total, if I recall).

 

We are almost maxed on numbers and almost certainly will be after the second portal window. You can't go to 37 without 37 slots...we probably need more attrition after spring as it is.
Also need to consider we are well positioned for the 24 class and it will be very tough to find room for those guys. At present I count 5 seniors next season.....and much of the obvious attrition has already occurred. I wouldn't mind us saving a slot or two

 

Got to lose them to gain them. 85 is 85. We have to work our way back a bit. They’ve been better than us for the last decade plus. Hopefully we keep moving in the right direction. Next years class has a top qb which kinda says it all.

 

Save em unless they are great prospects.

yea and i got my eye on 5 players I could see hitting the portal after the spring but even naming them is a STRETCH. I think some forget that there are kids on the 85 that are ok with riding their scholly out at UF and not transferring no matter how little PT they receive

 

Some could graduate early though and move for a graduate program at another football school on scholarship. That takes the bite out of losing a scholarship at UF.

 

But will they be aloud to do so. If it comes to ethics, we could move the dead weight to pwo stays or ir. I’d imagine there’s a plan set to bring in players in a couple months if they can help the team.

 

If our head coach's name was Saban, there is no question what the move would be.

 

Looks like he made it over the hump. I didn't think he was gonna survive the mess Willie T left for him. Did he have 2 or 3 consecutive losing seasons before this one?

Much easier to survive in the ACC than in the SEC. I like Norvell, and he doesn't scare me either on the field or in recruiting. He can be a 9-10 win coach every year, IMO, and we'll still compete with/beat the Noles.

Yeah....I think the staff gives players blunt assessments of their playing time, but as long as a kid is giving effort on and off the field they have a spot. And that's the way it should be. Beyond 4 years I don't mind UF moving on if a kid can't contribute....can't be a permanent scholly

 

I like reward for hard work to an extent. We need to win but kids attitude should be rewarded. Better life skill that sports for the vast majority. Napier can affect more kids that way.

 

At least they got rid of that arcane counters crap. Man that was just unnecessarily complicated to begin with.

 

I agree, and thank god because that's the only way to turn over the roster like Napier wants.
BUT, looking at the big picture it's also the only way to slow down the craziness of the portal.....and it may return for that exact reason. If schools have limited counters they can't afford to bring in unlimited portal guys.....and if kids have limited options as destinations they may stick longer with their original school

 

Bring back the one free transfer per player, and then you have to sit out a year. That would solve the problem of players jumping from school to school.

 

Agree. I always thought he was a good head coach, but he won’t be a contender relying on the portal, year after year. It is a great way to skip a rebuild year, or 2, and keep things respectable. But after three seasons his recruiting hasn’t been encouraging.
