There’s no arguing logic with a tankie. They think imperialism is bad and only the US is imperialist, and everything happening in Ukraine is the US’ fault. Poor, misunderstood Putin…….
Also, calling Westerners not shot through with prior hatred for Putin ‘tankie’ and ‘comrade’ is just embarrassing.
Larry Johnson? Once again quoting that well known philosopher John McEnroe "You cannot be serious". Larry C. Johnson - Wikipedia Interesting that he used Putin's term "special military operation" rather than the much more accurate description "invasion". I guess you can make the argument that Russia is winning by not losing but so far Vlad has failed to accomplish what he originally intended, occupying Kyiv with minimal losses and replacing Zelensky with a Russian puppet. Even if Russia manages to succeed through the recognition its occupation of Crimea and a good part of the Donbas Russia will have paid the price of the loss of hundreds of thousands of its own troops.
I think I've seen more Russians than that die just from watching all the twitter videos that come out of the war! Maybe the Mossad spokesman is just quoting the official Russian figures because I'm sure Israel knows the true numbers. I haven't been on this board in a while but I can see that as far as covering the Ukraine war it's pretty much a joke. I didn't realize that GC had such a pro-Russian fanbase.
What are you smoking ? This thread is almost wholly given over to festering hatred of all things Russian and regurgitation of unchecked Ukrainian propaganda.
Maybe someone can start a separate thread promoting all the good and positive things going on in Russia these days!!!
I think you're on that thread. This is also the thread for real news and good debate. You just have to click a couple of the right buttons.
Probably because I’d rather see the mindless ad hom and Murcan breast-besting confined to one thread.
ignore is your friend. it cleans up the thread so you can get info. some good sources provided in here here is one Russian War Report: Satellite imagery indicates a build-up of air defense missile systems in southern Russia - Atlantic Council
Yeah there is a part of me for shear entertainment value that misses the conversations with Dugger - but ignore has made the thread much easier to follow- especially because half of what he was posting was just troll posts, and the other half is straight russian propaganda.
NYT has twisted itself into a knot. Seems like only weeks ago it had Ukraine winning ... Exhausted Ukrainian troops complain they are already outnumbered and outgunned, even before Russia has committed the bulk of its roughly 200,000 newly mobilized soldiers. And doctors at hospitals speak of mounting losses as they struggle to care for fighters with gruesome injuries. ... The first stages of the Russian offensive have already begun. Ukrainian troops say that Bakhmut, an eastern Ukrainian city that Russian forces have been trying to seize since the summer, is likely to fall soon. Elsewhere, Russian forces are advancing in small groups and probing the front lines looking for Ukrainian weaknesses. The efforts are already straining Ukraine’s military, which is worn out by nearly 12 months of heavy fighting. ... Losses among Ukrainian forces have been severe. Troops in a volunteer contingent called the Carpathian Sich, positioned near Nevske, said that some 30 fighters from their group had died in recent weeks, and soldiers said, only partly in jest, that just about everyone has a concussion. Outnumbered and Worn Out, Ukrainians in East Brace for Russian Assault
Wow, Russian bots on Too Hot! Haven't been here in a while. My how things change. Yeah, dude, call me in 10 years when the US is thriving and the rest are hanging on. As for Russia, look at their demography. It's just a waiting game at this point and everything you see this spring and summer will essentially be their last hurrah.
Human Verification Things aren't tough for Ukraine - but man Russia is just throwing human life away right now. From the update: A funny thing happened on the way to Russia’s capture of Vuhlendar, Siversk, and even Bakhmut. The thing that happened is that they … didn’t happen. Or at least they certainly haven’t happened yet. What has happened is a jaw-dropping loss of Russian forces that have generated the highest body counts, and equipment counts, since the opening days of the war. On Monday, Russia made no notable gains at Bakhmut, no notable gains north of Bakhmut, and no notable gains south of Bakhmut. Fifty kilometers to the north, there doesn’t seem to have been any change around the city of Kreminna. That includes Ukrainian forces still reporting to have repelled advances in the area of Kreminna and around Shypylivka to the south. There are also doubts about previous reports of Russia advancing north of Kreminna. That “big push” in Zaporizhzhia turned out to be a complete illusion, and at Vuhledar … we’ll get to that in a minute.
I used to be on that side. . . . right up until Putin launched a 3-pronged attack on Ukraine. . . then did a faceplant into a puddle of his own vomit. Sorry, but the math has changed now. If you believe this, then you have to believe that Putin had no other - better - options on the table on Feb 23, 2023. That NATO had pushed him and Russia to a point where attacking Ukraine was the only viable option. Anyone with 1/2 a brain knows this was not true.
Yup. They've been in steady decline since their post WWII boom. There was one outlier: It does feel like a last ditch effort for survival. EDIT: good to see you here!
