    Typing as I listen…

i am proud of the way we baffled back down by 14 and had a chance to tie. Early in the game we were not physical on offense and didn’t work hard to execute… or score well enough. Our offense caused issues with our defense, and they got out on transition. We cut it to two, but really didn’t execute at end of first half... and they went on a 7-0 run.
We missed a couple shots and had some defensive breakdowns… which is an area we have been great. But a few times we were not executing our coverage. Wallace beat out coverage a couple times, and he played great… like a lottery pick.
Colin is a great player and he has put himself in the conversation …and he dominated the reigning the national POY. He gave us a chance to win and I am proud of how he competed..

This team could take off if they are able to get off to a good start and sustain that level of play. Tonight's game and the A&M games may have turned out differently with better starts.

If Golden can’t finally bite the bullet and sit Reeves he isn’t the coach I hoped he was. KR took 7 shots and five of them were bad. When he came in in the second half, he took his typical awful first possession first touch shot, missed, got beat on the defensive end by a guy who just blew past him the length of the front court, came back down and took another awful shot missed, then didn’t fight through a screen and got beat again the other way. Two possessions later his man beat him again. Result was that the lead went from 7 (with us in possession) to 12 within a minute of when he came in. Game was essentially over at that point barring a miracle.
And first halves at some point have to be put back on the staff as well, either in the scout or in getting them ready. That it’s still happening just isn’t acceptable.
One other gripe, Golden’s notion of waiting to call TOs until after makes is just bad business when this team can go such long stretches without them. The whole idea of calling a TO is to get a good set and calm things down.

Reeves ending up in the portal at the end of the season wouldn’t be a shock. He just can’t find his groove in Gainesville and he may look elsewhere.

I have to agree with your points on Reeves. He is a liability at this stage of the season. I don’t think coach has any issues with sitting an underperforming player - look at Bonham’s severely limited playing time (which I agree with because he is a loose cannon) Perhaps he is trying to get some players a rest like when JJ comes in to spell CC. The five starters can’t play the entire game. But, I dunno. Reeves season has been super disappointing; one would think he would blossom after his performance late last year. I felt exactly as you posted and was actually miffed he was in this game that long.

It's beyond frustrating at this point watching Reeves take bad shot after bad shot with little accountability. Enough is enough already and it feels like the same thing in almost every game other than the Tenn game, where I think he played only 11 minutes. If Golden can't get Reeves to play smart basketball, then he needs to ride the bench the rest of the season. I'm not sure what he's waiting for at this point, but I'd much rather give his minutes to Lane who won't take dumb shots and play much better defense. Not only did I think Reeves took terrible shots, but he gives the other team easy baskets going the other way. I really feel Florida would have won if Reeves didn't play. We've seen enough of Reeves already that imo it might be best if he does hit the portal at the end of the season.

Reeves never passes or moves the ball to others. Shoots majority of time when touching the ball. Off balance low percentage shots. Does not move well without the ball on O. D is not sharp either.

    I’m sure
Golden hasn’t shown much reservation in benching guys this season. I’m not sure why, in this game, he stuck with reeves for as long as he did … but generally… I don’t have much concern over him yanking a player. The timeouts, however…. Oof. Didn’t call a timeout the entire first half. Bizarre.

Fudge has to be on the floor. Athletically, he and Kugel make us much more athletic.
I’m still shocked at missed bunnies and that we cannot find a consistent scorer. That second guy should be able to give you a 15-16 point game every once in a while.
Castleton, may not be poy although he will have to be top 3, but he is far and away the most valuable player or important player to his team in the conference.

If only we could consistently play in the 1st half like we play (when we're desperate) in the 2nd.

Wallace was a surprise to me in that he hit multiple big shots. Got away with a few shots leading with his shoulder. To me Toppin was there MVP for the kats, got 10 rebounds and seventeen pts. Very impressive. Our bench wasn’t good enough against the kats and it led to multiple turnovers. Even with this stated, the Gator boys kept fighting and had a chance to get it to OT.
    Go Gators!

And yest, game after game, with the exact same concerns, he is the first guy off the bench.

Reeves probably needs a coach more like CMW that holds the kids more accountable and on edge for their shot selection and defensive play. The approach CTG has may lose him.

    I just don’t think he’s very good
Played hoops all his life, going on 2 yrs in Div 1, multiple coaches

Still has to held accountable for bad shots?
    Shouldn’t he know by now?

if you look back on his time here, we’re really just clinging to a couple “lightning in a bottle” moments, hoping he’ll “get it “

    wish he would…….

That approach ruined Allen and Hudson.
Gotta let players play and the occasional bad shot comes with the territory when you’re a scorer

Problem with Reeves is he takes more bad than good - that’s really tough to deal with

yeah… sorta. But he had a total of 8 minutes versus UT and only 5 minutes versus Kansas State. He lost his starting role early in the year, had a couple DNPs and has had some scarce minutes in our most recent games.
I agree, he needed to be benched yesterday. But I don’t think Golden has ignored the issue.

it almost sounds like you're saying nice things about CMW. That's unacceptable around here ;)

Oscar should've fouled out much ealier and Wallace was leaning with his shoulder all night. I suspect UK will get blowed out if they play like they did again in O dome

I mentioned him leading with his forearm shoulder and Oscar always get a pass with the referees. I agree, two or three more should have been called earlier in the game, but at least he fouled out. I would like to know the background on each and every ref and make sure that all regions and colleges are fairly represented. It seems at times we get the short end of the stick most times!
