With the signing of Caden Jones yesterday, the high school signees for the c/o 2023 is complete for Florida.

And since the last time I checked, Caden Jones has been upgraded from 3 stars to 4 stars by 3 of the 4 major recruiting ranking services (ESPN being behind the curve, as usual).

That means that every single one of the 21 high school recruits that Napier signed in the 2023 class has a blue chip rating of 4 or 5 by at least one of the 4 major recruiting ranking services.

That 100% BCR (Blue Chip Ratio) across all 4 rating systems, is the first and only time that UF has ever signed a 100% BCR using these industry ratings. Despite what some coaches insist when they demand 110% effort, a BCR cannot exceed 100%. So while there may be better recruiting classes in the past and future by some other measure, using BCR, this level of excellence will never be exceeded at UF or by any other program.

    Ever.

Even if we subtract Rashada from the signees, because he didn't enroll, the BCR % stays at 100%.

Stars are just directional indices, but they're the best of this directional indicator UF has ever, or will ever, sign in one year.

They all seem to be high character guys. Lets hope Napier’s evaluations are on spot.

I realize this class isn’t rated top ten but it’s just outside of that and I, for one, think it is a great class. It addresses our biggest needs even though we didn’t land a QB.
Considering the fact that BN had to rebuild our relationship, or at least is in the process of rebuilding that trust, with the high schools makes it even more remarkable.
Changing the culture is in full progress. Go Gators!

You nailed it. It addresses areas of need and lays a foundation. We all would have liked more linebackers, but this wasn’t a good class for the position. So, guess what, he has commitments from two of the best for next year!
    CBN gets it.

Not to burst your bubble, but it has already happened. Ohio State also has a 100% blue chip ratio for 2023. Every player in their class is a composite 4 or 5 star on 247 sports and the one that is not, is a 4 star on rivals.

Bama was in the same boat last year minus a kicker.

it will probably happen more often too…the addition of Ons gives players another shot at being a blue chipper and in addition, in the 2023 class, 446 players are considered blue chips - 4 and 5 stars on 247 composite. In 2010 you had to be rated in the top 350. In 2005, only the top 250 or so were rated 4 and 5 stars. So about 200 more players are now rated as blue chips than about 15 years ago. So more players rated so high means more chance of an all blue chip class.

OP is still correct. UF has never done it. 4 star players are the base of a very good team. Next year, we just need to maintain that kind of base while adding a few game changing type players. It's a tall order but getting a vocal QB early should help.

I do (somewhat) agree with what you’re saying …and I do realize PD is a pretty big sunshine pumper, though I’m one myself, but you picked 2 outliers. So it begs the question… can you ever be happy?

Notice that he said it won’t be exceeded, not that it hasn’t been done before. Just never at UF.

Since 2005 it has become increasingly easier to market yourself, as a player, than ever before through various social media, youtube, hudl, 7on7, etc. Perhaps its not that the bar is being lowered or the rankings diluted allowing for 200 more blue chip, but that more top level talent is being discovered earlier and more often than ever.

Not sure your point there. I never said this was the first time it's ever been done in college football, so no bubble to burst.

My reason for posting this was clearly stated: this is the first time in UF program history. And since it is 100%, and you can't go over 100%, no program - UF or otherwise - has ever had a higher BCR, or ever will.

I don't disagree it has become slightly easier to hit 100%, but because they are all giving out more 4* ratings, trying to hedge their bets at looking accurate. It won't be because of a new 4th company. There was always 4. When Scout was around, I counted them as the 4th company, and then replaced them with On3. Scout's last year was c/o 2017, which was On3's first year, so that one year got an extra set of scores, Mac's last year (and his BCR was only 79% that class).

And maybe I should have made this part bold to stand out, but I also added that this doesn't mean this is the best class we've ever signed. In fact, I am certain it is not. As stated above, there have been better classes before, and will be better ones in the future, by some other metrics, but by this measure, which is a very good directional quality measure, it's the best any program can achieve, and better than any we've ever had.

Which means this was a really good class, worthy of celebration and hope for a better future.

I was mostly referring to the original bold in your post that no program will match the 100% blue chips in a class. Thanks for the additional info.

Ah, but it didn't say no program would match it. It said no program would ever exceed it. Because it's mathematically impossible.

This is how I read it as well. I don't think spike had any intention to be a downer on that fact. Pretty easy thing to misunderstand.

Many metrics shine on this class. I also put value in my belief that Napier is not just a "star" grabber but actually evaluates talent for his system.

My take - We got some studs with speed at reciever.
We got an impressive D - B Haul.
We got an impressive D Line haul, although I know we needed another D Tackle.
We finished with a decent O Line Class.

    Holes? Yes.

Problems? Yes - Still sucking hind tit when it comes to top 50 National talent or top 30 Florida talent. 7th in SEC recruiting if you consider Oklahoma and Texas.

But between the class and transfer portal we have - what 32 new kids coming in?

Foundation has been laid, time to build this thing up!
