I could have sworn we hit half our free throws, but every missed free throw feels horrible in a close game. Considering how bad some of the rebound bounces were, being out rebounded by 7 isn’t that bad.
We shot FTs very well until the last couple of minutes where I think we made 2 of last 6. Kugel missed 2, Lofton and CC 1 each I think.
Always amazes me how the mid range jumper is no more -- incredible how you can win a game like this without making a single mid range jumper (maybe 1 if you include the bucket near the free throw line) uftennshotchart hosted at ImgBB
It's a lost art. Before the 3-point shot came into effect, teams worked hard on the 10'-to-15' jumper. It was and still is a great way to bust a zone, especially for a team that's not great at shooting from the perimeter.
Depending on where the soft spot is in the zone, pass it there and then the ball handler is a triple option: turn and shoot, turn and pass or turn and drive. But if he can't hit the 15 to 17 foot shot it is down to two options.
Thanks. CBS is usually pretty good. Here's another one (but still from CBS): Tennessee Volunteers vs. Florida Gators Live Score and Stats - February 1, 2023 Gametracker
We need to work on those pressure type situations. Missing FT late in a game will cost you most of the time, but it also gives future teams hope when they know you tighten up on the line late in games.
I was looking at the stats. I think it is noteworthy that they made 19 out 0f 68 and we 21 made out of 48. Wow!
Yeah . . . they have platoons of interchangeable bigs and hit their offensive boards hard. ESPN said they were a top offensive rebounding team. Not #1, I don't think, but pretty sure it was top 3. Somebody can find it . . . I can't even find box scores. LOL! Also shows what great defense the kids played. UcheaT got 20 more shots and we still beat them by double digits!
