I don't really understand why Trump is even running as he believes he never lost, and a team Trump/Lake would never lose.

I liked Haley until she started in on the conspiracy theories. She's too smart and it looks like pandering to the Q-world. If she stuck to her principles, she would do much better being the voice of reason and moderation in the general, but unlikely to get out of the primary. That's the real conundrum in the Rep party at the moment. Trump invited in the extremists/white supremacists/Qanon crowd and they aren't leaving anytime soon.

I think Haley would be a reasonable Republican but she’s only polling about 2% and most republicans do not want anybody who appears in any way moderate. She has basically zero chance.

She would be a good VP pick for Desantis for the general.

Based on what DeSantis has done as gov of Florida, I don't think Trump is any worse than DeSantis.

There are no reasonable Republicans who can win the nomination. She will have to become a MAGA nut like DeSantis or Trump if she wants to have a chance.

The problem with "reasonable Republicans" is that they cannot stay reasonable, at least publicly, and exist. I would randomly speculate that at least 60% of currently elected Republicans would sound very reasonable in private but would never act that way publicly in either rhetoric or voting behavior, because it would be immediate political suicide.

I agree. DeSantis will simply do more, if Florida is any indication.

Trump does those things because they excite him. DeSantis does those things because he thinks they will get him votes. I'm not sure which is worse.

Basically anyone with a shot will be running to the right of Trump in the primary. DeSantis is going to go all in on the anti-vax stuff and attack Trump for Operation Warp Speed and Covid response, and I imagine others will too. There will probably be some moderates in the field and establishment figures like Pence, but they will be largely irrelevant.

This thread cracks me up!!!! Nearly all but a couple people that have responded to this thread would never vote for a republican anyhow no matter who it is. And if you say you would, need to go back to that crazy mirror. I do appreciate you all's take though.

I disagree because I’ve become convinced DeSantis is a true believer in his Hate Wars.

Not me. I see to lean moderate right until the Culture Wars erupted. For example, I’d love to see some fiscal responsibility for once.

True for me and proud of it. I care too much for our country and for my kids' futures to vote for a Republican.

Ok.......... What potential Republican would you cast a vote for President for?
This might be fun. All you folks that have so much advise and direction the GOP needs to go, give us a Pub you would vote for. Doesn't matter whether they would win or not, just moderate enough you would vote for them. We will make it even easier, Vote for them against Biden in 2024

Let’s start with Paul Ryan. He’d be fantastic. He is also hated by MAGAs because he despised Trump, so he is essentially unelectable.
