DeSantis would never win the general either. He’s racking up too many crazy points in Florida that just wouldn’t sell in swing states.

Or you could have this scenario where Trump loses the primary and runs as an independent to punish the republicans for not choosing him by pulling votes away from the pub candidate.

Yes, trump would definitely be worse. At least Desantis is competent.

Hmmmmmm……. I should have read through all the replies, before posting mine.
Your point did cross my mind, though. I just think we cannot allow trump the opportunity to screw over this country again.
Anyone on this thread actually think trump could successfully guide us through a real military conflict? A new pandemic?
I’ll take competent over insane every time.

Which is exactly why I would NEVER vote for her. Corrupted and mind polluted.
Once u drink from the poison Trump chalice, ones worthlessness is forever exposed.

A Trump reelection would result in violent insurrection- He would pick right back up on his Jan 6th agenda.

The only OUT, for Trump is reelection because the law and the bill collectors are hot on his trail.

Since I don't really follow the everyday minutia of crazyland (politics), what has she done to move to the far right and appeal to MAGA?

Apparently, the way Desantis has run the state he must not be far into crazy land since he got 60% of the vote. Maybe all you are wringing your hands about him should look in a mirror. Maybe you might see crazier there that you don't recognize.

Keep Ron in Florida and let’s make Nikki the first female President.
    Let’s make it happen.

That would be pretty brilliant. Haley can really go hard after Trump, he will lash back and stop pestering DeSantis during the primaries, then DeSantis can gain a lot of ground in the general by having a female vice president.

Although I don't think a female running mate will help a male Republican presidential nominee whether it's Trump, DeSantis or someone else all that much among female voters as long as the party supports a near total nationwide ban on abortion.

Would help way more than another man on the ticket who supports a near total nationwide ban on abortion.

Domestically he might be worse. But Trump betrays the US in foreign policy and looks to undermine US interests. Don't think DeSantis would do that unless he needed to politically; for DT it's an inclination

against one of the worst organized dem factions in the country. since then, he has wen full christian nationalism authoritarian. the man sees himself as some kind of ordained Saviour and is abusing his authority with no respect for the law or opposing opinions. when the majority can just trample the minority, we will have lost what makes this country work.

in my opinion, there is a more interesting gender angle to her potential candidacy. She's been pretty credibly accused, in a way that makes me believe it's true, that she had a very conventional affair with a younger male staffer, basically the same thing that male politicians and leaders have done forever with female staffers and largely gotten away with.

Personally, I don't condone that, and on one hand I think it would be appropriate for her to suffer electoral consequences for that affair. On the other hand, it would seem harsh to penalize a female candidate for actions that male candidates almost never suffer consequences for.

Again, this hasn't been written a lot or publicly confirmed. Just in my estimation, it seems very credible.

Edited to add: very little written about the affair, just enough to make it seem credible. I haven't seen anything to suggest whether there was any abuse of power, and that obviously could change my opinion very significantly. That charge be held accountable. My wife and I have long debated whether women will behave that way once they have power. Interesting cinematic exploration of the question in Tar.
