    From the article:
Cheng and the other researchers said, behavioral health challenges associated with the pandemic — job losses, isolation, the unexpected deaths of relatives, or other pressures — can also cause acute or chronic stress leading to cardiac disease.

Because of this increased risk of stress, many Americans have fallen out of the habit of exercising and may have skipped medical check-ups that could detect problems, said a separate team of Cedars-Sinai researchers who reported in August that COVID-19 was linked to an increase risk of stroke.

Individuals who were vaccinated were 200 times less likely to have a stroke after having the respiratory disease. Those who had severe cases of COVID-19 were at a much greater risk of experiencing inflammation, blood clots and heart disease.

Dr. Nancy Sicotte, chair of the Department of Neurology and the Women’s Guild Distinguished Chair in Neurology at Cedars-Sinai, strongly recommended vaccines for individuals in high-risk groups. This includes those who have lung or cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, a prior stroke, people who are immunocompromised, and individuals aged 65 and older.

We have looked into this. And while the research is ongoing, COVID infection is the likely culprit. Here's an article from John's Hopkins on the link between COVID infection and heart problems. Per the article, type I heart attacks don't rise. But type II do. And an infection causing a cytokine storm can have long lasting effects on the heart.

There's a condition called POTS that effects the heart, mostly in women. Vaccinated women are 5X less likely to get it versus unvaccinated. And this article citing multiple studies, says no link between a rise in vaccination and heart attacks. The numbers show no correlation. But there was significant rise in cardiac events in areas of large COVID outbreak.

It's fine to ask questions. Good to ask them. But you also must be willing to accept the answer the data is giving, and not just a preconceived answer you have. In this case, the data is saying the vaccine isn't the cause.

I can’t address other states but last year all HS athletes were required to pre play EKG to look for these types of issues. So we are being more cautious in this demographic. It used to be “as needed” but now required.

Not saying the shots has anything to do with athletes collapsing.

    Just putting that info out.

Again, Covid doesn't harm healthy kids. Almost zero risk for kids. 1 in a million risk from Omicron. Also zero reason to vax kids who are healthy.

    During Jan-Mar 2022, there were 46 deaths within 30 days of a positive #SARSCoV2 test & 11 were due to COVID-19.

All 11 #COVID19 deaths occurred after primary SARS-CoV-2 infection, 8/11 (73%) had underlying comorbidities, including 4 with severe neurodisabilities.

Of the 8 children and teenagers who were ≥12-years and eligible for vaccination (including six with underlying conditions) five had received two doses, one had one dose and two were unvaccinated.

Importantly, COVID-19 contributed to 1.1% (11/1,003) of deaths in <20-year-olds during Jan-Mar 2022 vs 1.2% during Mar 2020 to Dec 2021. Covid has NEVER been a major or significant cause of death in children or adolescents at ANY time during the pandemic. Anyone saying otherwise is lying.

Significantly lower infection fatality rates associated with SARS-CoV-2 Omicron (B.1.1.529) infection in children and young people: active, prospective national surveillance, January-March 2022, England - ScienceDirect

This is all that I find in multiple stories:

He died of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in combination with him refusing to take the Beta blockers (Inderal) because he told his cardiologist it hurt his game. Previous to his collapse and ultimate death during a game on March 4, 1990, he had collapsed during a game on Dec. 9 1989. At which time doctors put him on medication that he was refusing to take.

I have never read anything about him using cocaine. The cardiologist was later sued for allowing him to continue to compete and settled out of court for $1M.

How would shot only or Covid and the shot explanations explain an increase in deaths in 2020 and early 2021? Very few people in that age range had their vaccinations during that window.

It's funny that you're now pretending to be open minded about it. Yeah we need to continue to study it.

It seems pretty clear that covid itself has caused an increase in cardiac-related deaths. The question is if the vaccines are contributing to it as well.

I think he may have conflated the death of Len Bias who did die from a cocaine overdose with the death of Hank Gathers. As you indicated Gathers died from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. None of the news stories mentioned that he used cocaine.

On the POTS thing, I recall seeing that before, and they did say there was a linkage to the vaccine and onset of POTS. They also said the linkage between actual Covid and POTS is 5 times greater. My adult daughter has recently diagnosed as POTS, but we suspected this before the vaccine and Covid. She is vaccinated and also had Covid in 2021.

No, you've only recently started framing it as possibly being covid that is causing this stuff. Up until then it was all about the vaccine 'safety signal' for you.

You may be correct that’s why my post was in the form of a question. It was like 30 years ago or so…

The biggest question I have is why aren’t more extensive and more regular screenings being done with athletes. We know both Covid and the vaccine can cause myocarditis. We know nearly the entire population has had either one or both, so everyone is susceptible to myocarditis. I’m pretty sure none of the leagues are testing regularly anymore, so there could be asymptomatic cases undetected. Athletes putting tremendous strain on an already weakened muscle is obviously more dangerous than an average person doing the same. Why aren’t the teams checking more often?

Trust me…at this point I think the shots are a huge problem. But I am not going to jump off the cliff to take an unnecessary shot like you just because the disease could also be an issue.

This has been a risk/benefit issue from the beginning. And the idiots in public health were able to control you into not understanding that reality. And it is evil to give these shots to a healthy person at this point. Really it was evil to authorize for a healthy person at any point.

The shots did not help you when you finally got Covid based on your experience. Glad you are better. And you would have been fine without the shots as we have ways to treat it now. If only we put more focus on therapeutic treatments instead of pushing shots that are likely harmful as vaccines when the best case is they are a therapeutic that can be harmful.
