The 911 operator needs to be taken off the phones until she goes through retraining.

Interesting to read all the comments of all the “he resisted arrest” crowd here. Guy was told to put Down the hammer, hit Paul Pelosi I’m the head, and an entire group of posters can’t comment on it and won’t acknowledge the lies spread from the fake news sources that they frequent and post. Same fold who minimize 1-6 and spread the election lies. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what they really think.

Only someone trolling or brainwashed could listen to that and conclude that Paul knew his assailant.

Was this a bad call? I don't know. I understand how it could be viewed that way, but I think there's a lot that goes into these.

Assuming the caller is in danger and the dangerous person can hear the call - the dispatcher doesn't want to say anything to escalate the situation, but can (and probably did) immediately dispatch police to the scene. Seemed like she was trying to walk that line of keeping things calm, keeping the line open, assuring PP, all while pushing the buttons of police escalation .

. You can barely contain the joy you evidently experienced in watching the video and listening to the the 9–11 call. Better Paul Pelosi should have said there was an intruder in his house and acted aggressively instead of trying to keep the guy calm. Look what happened when police told him to drop the hammer? How did that work out?

Heartily in agreement. Dispatchers need to be alert and capable of listening between the lines, so-to-speak, of the person making the distress call. Like this woman placing an order for a pizza.

Some of them, especially the ones who fancy themselves Christians, ought to be ashamed of themselves. Even after 79+ years on this planet, and being a prolific reader, I can’t understand posts like #58. Where’s the kindness, the charity, the humility? All I see is the hypocrisy.

It sounded to me at one point (1:25) she came close to disconnecting Mr Pelosi.

I used to date a HCSO 911 operator. She was trained that if there is ANY ambiguity in the situation, you dispatch immediately just in case the assailant is right there. This operator was clearly trying to decide if this was a prank call or a confused/mentally ill caller. I don't even think she recognized the name "Pelosi" which Paul mentioned twice. Pelosi had to go through way too much with her and this operator was clearly not picking up on it. Just the conversations regarding the Capitol Police indicate that.

Delusional comment. You apparently only heard what you were expectantly hoping to hear.

    See below.

    Certainly not you.

Knowing what I know about your adherence and practice of your Catholic faith I'm surprised you didn't know Catholics believe spaces, buildings and residences can be blessed to dispel evil traces left after violent or other evil acts are committed in the locale where the evil acts occurred.

The first mention of the incident came from daughter Alexandra Pelosi as reported by the NYT. Opinion | Nancy Pelosi, Liberated and Loving It

"Returning to the subject of her husband, she said that it was unimaginable having her home turned into “a crime scene” and then getting hit with sick conspiracy theories about Paul, and Republicans making fun of the attack.

“'The fact that they were after me and then they hit him,' Pelosi said, looking stricken. 'He’s a strong person, athletic. This has been tough. It’s going to be about three or four more months before he’s really back to normal.'”

"Alexandra, always the id to her mother’s superego, was more blunt: 'I think that weighed really heavy on her soul. I think she felt really guilty. I think that really broke her. Over Thanksgiving, she had priests coming, trying to have an exorcism of the house and having prayer services.'”
    ____________

Pelosi reportedly arranged an ‘exorcism’ of her home. Can any Catholic priest do this?

The Archdiocese of San Francisco, in which the Pelosis reside, said it was “unaware” of the exorcism.

“We would respect the privacy of families with regard to exorcisms and house blessings,” Peter Marlow, executive director for communications and media, told CNA Monday.

“Exorcisms and house blessings are not activities we would promote to the media,” he said. “If a parishioner is interested in a house blessing, they should contact a priest at their parish.

Marlow referred CNA to the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ discussion of exorcisms on its website. While “major exorcisms” are conducted on a person by a bishop or priest with the special permission of the local ordinary, “minor exorcisms” are used in the rite of baptism or in a series of prayers that may be used by the faithful, including “any demonic influence on places and things in particular.'”

And for your edification 92, is a link to everything you might possibly want to know about exorcisms.

Another thought to add about the glass in Mr Pelosi's hand that a number of people on this thread thought an indication he and DePape were having some sort of 'social encounter'. Speculating here, but I think it's possible Mr Pelosi picked up the glass to have a drink of water when he was in the bathroom calling 911 and realized holding onto a glass might possibly be of benefit to him if DePape suddenly turned violent. The glass could be broken and used as as defensive weapon. Would not be as lethal as a fast swinging hammer, but holding on to it may have given him a bit of hope in a terrifying situation.

Kinzinger is the man, and I say that as someone who leans highly left and completely disagrees with his policies. He is the type of Republican we need in this country, where we may have our disagreements on policy, but at the end of the day, he isn’t a treasonous leech who will say what the base wants to hear just to get points. He’s an honorable man who proudly served in our military and who held those involved in the insurrection accountable. The type of Republican I would proudly stand behind and wouldn’t be embarrassed to have in charge of our country. One of the few decent republicans left.

The DePape, ever the loyal Trumper, called a SF reporter from his jail yesterday in a recorded call ... I'm guessing his lawyer won't be happy about what he said....

David DePape called KTVU’s Amber Lee from the San Francisco County Jail on the same day the attack footage was released, with what he called “an important message for everyone in America.”

Without mentioning Pelosi by name, DePape said he had gathered “names and addresses” of people he believed were “systematically and deliberately” destroying American freedom and liberty and said he wanted to “have a heart-to-heart chat about their bad behavior.”

DePape added that he should have been “better prepared,” adding that he was sorry that he “didn’t get more of them.”

KTVU said their reporter was not allowed to ask follow-up questions of DePape during the phone conversation, which he allowed to be recorded.

This is the audio of his phone call to KTVU yesterday... he has an important message for all the like minded fools out there, so I guess this a good place to post it... he's sorry he didn't hurt more people, but will do better next time...

We need to bring back public hangings for the DePape types.

Their cheerleaders can join him too for all I care.

Very possible. I had thought it was perhaps a delaying tactic - as DePape was threatening him with a hammer, Pelosi asks if it would be OK for him to get something to drink. I've seen no mention of it being a cocktail by anyone that knows or has access to facts. Just a few posters here.
