Is there anything that can be done to get this team to play looser in the first half like they do in the 2nd with a deficit, or do they just not have the psychological or physical makeup to deal with the pressure of big games?
Better coaching. Better scouting and scouting reports. It’s pretty obvious. Teams have us scouted to perfection while we are down 7-15 points at the second media. We have 0 answers. Fortunately we seem to make decent adjustments buts it’s too late and too big of hole dug. Lastly- we need better players.
I imagine coach had expected more play making abilities from Lofton, to drive and create plays. His best skill set seems to be slowly dribbling it up the court.
Our top priority in recruiting should be sharpshooters. Upperclassmen, guys ready to step in right away. Anyway, I don't think we have a magic bullet for this season. Maybe our guys should scrimmage an hour before tipoff. Since that's not realistic, I say we map out our first five possessions with plays drawn up. If that doesn't work, call a timeout if we fall behind by 7 points early and draw something up and break a clipboard or two, then run the ol' picket fence. Don't get caught watching the paint dry.

Every team needs better players. Coaches used to grow their own but once and done and the portal seems to have forced salesmanship first. Just look at Oates and that fella at Little Rock for two. Maybe we need a coach that was a successful selling door to door.
